But tempting these poor losers with an abandoned open door running vehicle to get them to go for a joy ride is close to entrapment in my opinion. Makes for interesting audience judgement TV... and a laugh or two I do not agree with tax dollars being spent for this kind of questionable crime prevention.

But, usually they also lock the doors so they don't have to get in a foot race. I wonder if this IMPACT group will implement that in future bait cars.

unfortunately I married this idiot and had 2 children with him. It's definately not a "racial issue". he's been a car thief for a long time. he also plead guilty a couple of years ago to assaulting me when our daughter (9 months old at the time) was in my arms and our 2 year old son was watching. I just saw this tv show for the first time and I am appalled. These are ALL clear cases of ENTRAPMENT, which is highly illegal. To specifically target minority neighbourhoods and display this obvious abuse of power is actually racial profiling, yet another illegal offence. IMPACT does not go onto a map and pick out places where there are a lot of latinos because they feel they need more cultural diversity in prison. They simply look at where auto crime is the highest and place cars accordingly. Not that I would expect a white collar lawyer to know this but the police are not looking for punks taking joy rides, why not put resources into repeat offenders that you can get a jail sentence out of instead of wasting your time driving a kid home...
