  • Nick played the 2010 Open Championship, and on his bag had "SIR NICK FALDO",

could not belive that..... how pompus....

  • @2000gpg Yea right! If I was a Sir I'd have that shit everywhere too haha

  • i don't think nick know what lampoon means :P

  • what model burners are they ? would they be any good for a player 68 yrs old with a 105 speed?

  • @18tangles looks like burner 2.0

  • ahaha even for my dislike of faldo being a headcase when it comes to studying and analyzing the swing on tv, i really liked his comment "i'm just doing the same thing i've only got one swing!" i wish he'd get out there and play on the champions tour too.

  • Nick thinks he can hit shanks....LOL

  • Comment removed

  • What is he hitting? 6?

  • how come nick isn't playing on the champions tour? i miss watching him play

  • i guess he knows what a shank is after seeing tiger do it in 2006 "OOOOH he shawnked it!"

  • thats the best shank ive ever heard

  • check out our golf skills and tunes

  • the lofts on these clubs are 19 for a 3....thats a 2 for some companys...these irons are good but most of the distance comes from loft that means I could hit a 3 as far as my 2 which I hit 225-230 something.....just take a burner stamped 3 and consider it a 2

  • The best irons i have ever played with.

  • the 6 iron burner is equal to his five iron in lofts. dont get me wrong though these irons are great clubs and very easy to hit and work the ball with

  • these irons are the best i don't care about the loft it's easy to hit and workable just got them and at the third time played with them i sored 74 my best game ever and the last time i bought clubs (nike vr cavity back) it took like 20 games to get my normal game back so this is the best irons by the best golf companie

  • lol apparently you either have no idea about golf or you have your numbers mixed up.....Tiger's ball speed with his driver is 180+mph

  • @lazebrett You might want to recheck that number, I think you might be mistaken.

  • Swing's still looking awfully good, though...I mean, really.

  • @emncaity Don't get me wrong, the guy is my idol and his iron swing has always been pure. I heard from a Taylor Made Sales Rep last February that these were four irons. The only thing I would say to the contrary is that it looks to be the length of a six iron but then the golf club has always looked short in his hands. Check out "Nick Faldo Takes on Trackman" if you liked this.

  • Oh, me too (idol, etc.). I didn't take it as a disparaging comment at all--more like realistic. The distances sound much more like Faldo with a 4-iron, even a solid one. Most of the time--I'm sure you know--the distances these guys hit it are overstated, usually because that's what gets the attention on a telecast. You're going to hear about the 230-yard 4-iron (ball sitting well up, downwind, downhill, with 25 yards of bounce) but not the 168-yarder into the wind. Not as impressive.

  • ...not to mention that whether or not the damn thing has a 6 stamped on it, as others are pointing out, it's loft, length, shaft, etc., that matter. I hit irons now that are easily 15-20 yards longer than when I played Wilson Staffs in my 20s (as a plus-2), and drivers are ridiculous. If you're a good player, fairly strong and hit them anywhere near high center, you can hardly bunt it less than 300-310. Out of control. No telling what a guy like Snead would've done.

  • BTW, that Trackman vid is pretty cool...thanks...

  • Check the lofts!!!!

  • Right...compare to MP62...a club difference up until 9.....good for the frothers who love the par 3 iron comparison shite

  • Taylormade burner irons

  • The original urban legend was that Sir Nick was hitting six irons but it turned out these were four irons.

  • Is that right? Where'd you find that?

  • Notice how after the first hit from Faldo , the bloke behind the computer reads it off instantly , every shot after, there is a long pause , How do we really know what's going on here??? is Faldo getting paid a fortune along with the computer guy? , or does Faldo have a slice in the company etc...., there is no set up to this demo.... and as king of Great Britain I now declare it bull , thankyou

  • but plz everyone these irons are a joke the loft between 5 and 3 iron are 4 degrees and it should be 3 between each club! session savant im sure youre either an serius clubmaker or you really care about your game and dont fall for these gimiks and youre absolutely correct almost the only reason we hit irons longer now is because the loft of each clubs are way lower than say in the 70s

  • What ever they might be they're the easiest irons I've ever hit my scores have dropped down into the 70's from mid 80's

  • @MiuraUU Oh, I'm just an educated golfer, and I agree. When a company tells me their irons are longer, my first question is, "loft, and length please?"

  • @SessionSavant thats the only reason we hit it further now:P all this hot face and my favorite: bigger sweetspotxD you cant make a sweetspot bigger or smaller its allways the size of a neadle head, all those arguments are kinda BS

  • I'm sure his old/current irons are "player" irons which are usually about 3 degrees weaker for each iron. These game improvement irons are stronger so they almost always go further. I still love taylormade equipment but don't be too excited about "extra distance", it's apples and oranges!

  • Shoot no, man...didn't you know the whole point of the game was to be able to hit an iron with a higher number stamped on it over the same distance another guy hits one with a lower number?

I sense that you find it about as amusing as I do that people absolutely ruin their games over the difference between hitting an 8-iron instead of a 7.

  • Got to love these irons... Their "4" iron is a 3 iron, of course, plain and simple. Just another case of vanishing loft to claim that "our clubs hit it farther".

In 1970, a PW was 52°, in 1980 it was 50°, in 1990 it was 48°, in 2000 it was 46°, and the Burner PW is (wait for it) 45°...

So, of course they hit it further! The 4 iron is, for all other purposes, a 3 iron.

  • Well i guess the spin rates weren't as high back then as the new Prov1 so we can afford to deloft the club without losing much height because the ball will just whip up in the air no matter what and this time it will go further. Sorry if I'm speaking out of my ass it's just a suggestion.

  • And longer shafts...and longer balls...and perimeter (or redistributed) weighting with larger heads...

Hey, anything to pump the "these guys are good" line.

  • Just got a set of these delivered yesterday! Love them! Could not recommend them enough. I am a 17 handicapper and suit me perfectly got mine at a really good price on gimmugolf (dot) com after shopping around and even bartering at my local pro shop.

  • Are these standard shafts longer than the average club?

  • Bought these...I hit the 6-iron 190 and the 5-iron 205. I hit them very high with either a draw or fade, whatever I need. These irons may be labeled "game improvement" and some think that's derogatory, but when you're 48 you'll take what you can get.

  • very impressive, but my money is on callaway irons, I just bought, last week, the X-22 Tour Irons with True Temper Dynamic Gold X100 steel shafts, and I went from hitting a 5 - Iron 210 to 224, I used to play an older model Titleist DCI 762 Irons.

  • I couldn't agree more and I'm going to be 50...whatever they are they work I tell people they should be illegal

  • i just got these yesterday for $500. i have swung 20 times and i have to say they are simiply amazing. by the way i am 15 and bought these my self. buy these!

  • Is this the TP version or just the burner 09 version??

  • What does he have? Is it a 5 iron?

  • faldo looks like he's still got it

  • I don't care about the commercial that club in his hands is not long enough to be a four iron........real original I've never heard that faggot joke before

  • This is part of the commercial, and it appears in the commercial not to be long enough to be a four iron, but indeed it is, you will feel bad when you pay attention to the commercial and read the fine print at the bottom at the very end of the commercial.

  • You're a dumbass.....there is no way that nick faldo hits a four iron 160 yards. I hit a 8 iron that far and I haven't won the Masters.

  • Watch the commercial you fucking idiot and read the fine print then suck my dick you fucking faggot

  • It is not a 6 iron, it is a 4 iron, you can see it in fine print on the commercial, which means he hits is 4 iron about 160-165. His swing has suffered over the years from too much foward flexion with the upper spine, his hips are no longer foward and is not extending the spine like he use to be in his prime, and this guy is breaking down golf swings. I love listening to Nick and his accent and usually positive mode, but swing mechanics and knowledge of the golf swing he lacks.

  • Your a total clown, join a circus where your shit will be appreciated

  • your a total clown, what does your a total clown mean, I no what you're means, but not sure what your "your" means. I think we know who the clown is, genious.

  • video doesn't quite feel unbiased, nonetheless there is a good buzz on this product so i think I'll try them

  • 6 iron by the way

  • I love how he is now Sir Nick Faldo. He never asks anyone to call him that but on the Golf Channel they seem to almost mock him with it jokingly ofcourse but I think he should switch to the Burner Irons and win the British Open!

  • When he lines up, are his feet aiming to the right of where the club face is aiming? It just seems like that to me.

  • faldo was the man a born winner if he was a young man going against tiger woods today he would win more than he lost in majors im quite sure of that

  • Sorry, I've listened to this all the way through, and I didn't hear what iron Nick was hitting--anybody else know?

  • I would guess a 4 1/2 iron with the number 5 written on it.

  • I could watch faldo hit balls all day. Dude has one of the best swings in hirstory

  • You said it. And yet the Tiger-invented-golf crowd barely knows who he is, or how great he was when he was #1. They think guys like Phil and Sergio are better.

  • You know what it is? He's one of the last guys who didn't give a crap about hitting max distances with every iron--and he wasn't as short as people thought, either (before he toned down, he was among the Eurotour leaders in driving distance). Just didn't care at all about that stuff. He'd let you tell all the stories about how you were hitting 150-yard nuke-wedges to his 8-iron; all that mattered to him was whether he was getting ball closer and outscoring you...which he almost always was.

  • Thats right, it was all about control. His stock 7 iron was 155, that didnt mean he couldn't stand on the range and muscle it out to 180, it means he chose to hit it 155. He could add exactly a yard on, take exactly a yard off, choose exactly how many yards to draw or fade the ball, exactly how high to hit it and exactly how much spin to apply. He could do it with every club in the bag. It was exact, pristine, clinical, awesome golf. People talk of Ben, Moe and Lee, they forget about Nick.

  • At his best, he was just unbelievable to watch. I saw him in some Thursday and Friday rounds occasionally (on TV) where he was always 10-15 yards or more behind the guys he was playing with, and he'd hit iron after iron between six and teen feet from the hole, and miss putt after putt. I mean, I saw him shoot 68s and 69s that would have totally pissed me off, because I'd have felt like I left an easy 61 out there. If he'd have ever been a truly _great_ putter...

  • Yup, the same could be said for Ben, so alike those two. The iron play just battered opponents into the ground though. Alas Nick is the last of the "players" and already almost forgotten. I hate what this game has become.

  • Same here. Give them real rough, harder greens, and no square grooves, along with forged blades and persimmon, and then we'll see. As it is, with all the across-the-board advantages, you should see records broken every week by the "these guys are good" crowd--but you don't.

Hogan's a great parallel, of course. Can you imagine him caring whether he hit 8-iron or 6 from 160? Can you imagine the look you'd get from him if you acted like it proved you were a better player for hitting the 8?

  • He wouldn't have to give anyone a look, he's the fella with an uphill birdie putt ;-)

  • BOLLOCKS DID U HIT A 6 IRON 250 U LIER

  • if you would learn how to read i said i hit a 4 iron 240 yds, not my 6. i'll even make a video if you want. showing me with my driver and irons!!

  • What do you think, shell I buy the Burner irons or the Tour Preferred irons? Thank you very much :)

  • these irons for sure!!! i just got them like a week ago and they're amazing. way better than the old R7s i had. these clubs are unbelievably forgiving on most of my mis-hits. i got these clubs for $50 cheaper because a ton of stores are lowering their taylor-made clubs due to competition. these clubs alll the way!! :)

  • Thanks for your advice, I hit them today and you're right, they are amazing :)

  • glad to help :)

  • hit the callaway x 22's also the burner pluses were alot better. so wanted to like the callaways cause i love the look but just couldnt deny the burners, they were so much more forgiving, really high ball flight.

  • just bought the burner plus irons wow they r awesome:) hit one six iron shot off the 250 net at 250.the r9 driver is amazing every drive was over the net at 250. . . way over and straight even when off the toe highly recommend both these

  • I tired out my friends and they are nice, but I still hit my pings better.

  • My new set of Burners came with a 4 iron to A wedge. I can't wait to rock these things. Regular flex shaft as well. Beautiful looking club.

  • what irons?? i just got the 09 burner irons and i could only get 4-P, i had to spend an extra $120 on a 52 degree for an approach wedge!!

  • Don't know what to tell you bro, my set is 4-A. Super long, I have to re-distance everything in my mind now. These are fun clubs to hit!!

  • same here, i had R7s with senior flex shafts with a driver head speed of about 117 mph. now with longer irons and steel shafts, i have to re-distance too. it's a pain in the butt.

  • How can you have a driver head speed of 117 and play senior flex shafts. The average pga tour players c.h.s. is about 112-115. and they are swinging stiff to x-stiff shafts.

  • you're right, i couldn't hit a straight ball when i had the senior flex. so i bought the 08 tour burner when an v-stiff shaft. now they're goin right down the middle of the fairway(driving is my best category)

  • i just tried these irons at golf headquaters in vegas, and WOW, these irons are amazing. i tried every1 of these irons on a simulator and was hitting a 7 iron 180 yards consistantly, AND im 15, i'm also 5'6'' and can hit the 4 iron 240 yards. i did also take into consideration that there was no wind in the simulator so i took away about 20 yards. but i added roughly 10 yards because i was using a range ball. But overall, i give these clubs a 9.5/10 because the set doesnt come with an A wedge.

  • wow at 15 you can hit a 4 iron as far as Sergio Garcia unbelievable....

  • are u being sarcastic??? anyway, i'm starting to find out that my swing is a little flat, and trying to fix it is ruining my golf game. hopefully having Butch Harman can make me better.

  • This video is very misleading. TaylorMade has made the new burner irons very strong. Meaning they've increased the distance of each iron by changing the loft to be stronger. If you compare the specs of the Tour Preferred irons to the new Burner irons you'll see that the Burner 3-iron has the same loft as the TP 2-iron, Burner 4-iron has the same loft as a TP 3-iron, and so on. I guess psychologically a 6-iron is a 6-iron even though it has the loft of a 5-iron I can still hit it 200 yards.

  • That's just what I was gonna ask before I looked down at the comments. The one positive I think about the strong lofts is that it will still launch high and the shaft is just that touch shorter comparatively to what a traditional blade would be. I play M675's... I may test out some of the newer offerings in the future.

  • true but you can have people think you hit a 7 iron when you actulay hit a 6 iron to get there yardages if your like me

  • omg i cant wait to get these damn irons, i dont know pmnd on the TM website it says that they come out march 20th like the r9 but on there r9 countdown clock it says like 18 days from febuary 17th so i dont know but what i do know is that i WILL be getting these irons when they come out with this video i dont even think i would even need to try these out at golfsmith. i cant wait

  • My God, Faldo isn't known to be a long hitter but those Burners are from another planet!! They truly give you more distance with the same effort!

  • Hitting a 6 iron over 200 is crazy

  • WTF! I want them. Supposedly these 2009 Burner irons will be released next week at the trade show and then come out in February. At least that's what they said at Edwin Watts.

BTW- Faldo seems to be a friendly and cool dude

  • 6 iron

  • What's he hitting? 5;6;7 iron?

  • you could tell faldo was seriously impressed here.

im not sure hes the type to get excited easily!

perhaps he might start playing again!

  • Your mouth to God's ear.

  • Wow!

  • Great video. We will post some Pics on GolfWRX soon. Interesting launch for sure.
