I always prefer adopting from shelters then I do from breeders. If you're not doing anything with the animal (shows and breeding) then you don't need one from a breeder. So many animals make amazing pets. So what if they're a mutt. Who cares? My dog was adopted from a petsmart adoption, german shepherd husky mix, and was the best friend I ever had. Adorable little kitty. :) And just because she is holding the kitten like that doesn't mean she's holding it too tight. Looks fine to me.
