they're not a waste of money. say u get one for $25, sure it costs more than wax at the time, but overtime, if u surf enough, u will be going through wax like crazy. I use at least 8 bars in a summer. The traction pad also has a little kick on the back of it that allows u to dig ur back foot into place.

You surf with alot of kooks? Or maybe longborders, because I have yet to see a shortboarder not use one. Not only will you save money because you do not have to use as much wax, but the traction pad is one of the best inventions for the shortboard.

iv seen tons of shortboarders not use one. but if ur just staring to surf and "chooseing a surfboard" like this vid is abt then u dont need one. the only thing u need one for is to help u do duckdives and airs
