Had Schulz sneer at me at the old Erie County Fieldhouse. Actually skated a few games with the Blades when they had too many injured. Great but scary memories. Old Time Hockey!!
In "Slap Shot" the Ducks were wearing Broome (Binghamton) Dusters jerseys with the word Ducks replacing Dusters on the front... plus at one point "Broome County" is actually mentioned as the opposing fans. Binghamton/Broome County were never in the Eastern Hockey League, just the NAHL and AHL - so I'm not sure how the EHL inspired their mentions.
i had that buffalo norseman program till i lost it in a move a couple of years ago they were oonly in the league a year i think pretty hard to compete with the nhl....thanks for the memorie blast!!!
Fun to watch. I was the PR Directors for the Mohawk Valley Comets and think fondly of the fun days of the NAHL. In the Comets team photo at the 2:20 mark, I'm the guy with the "Afro" on the far right in the cool plaid suit and turtleneck. Still have a Clinton Comets and MV Comets jersey. It was fun to see Bill Goldthorpe, the inspiration of "Oglethorpe" in Sue Dowd's fun film "Slap Shot" ... all filmed in the NAHL arenas.
I was at the civic center when the firebird beat the beauce jaros for the lockhart cup.and all the battles the birds had with the jets classic hockey ray schultz kicking jack carlson's ass just great thank you nahl for coming to philadelphia I LOVE YOU DAD !!
@markrink Whats sad is the fact that in Philadelphia no one cares about these guys or the Blazers...Philadelphia Stars (USFL) They were all good teams no matter what level they were playing at.
Philadelphia Firebirds! I was a kid when the Firebirds played in town and we used to go when the Maine Mariners were in town since they were the future Flyers, but I loved seeing the Firebirds too - especially goalie Rejean Lemelin! And my favorite Doug Favell spent some time with the Firebirds as well. Love this video, thanks for posting it.
@Kropp1964 Spend many a night at Firebirds games. I can't remember if it was them or the Blazers that would let you skate for an hour after the game for free.
I wish I was around in the 60's and 70's. Stupid being born in 1982

I remember just about all of these teams, having grown up in Johnstown, PA. Cool stuff.
