when i first compared 50hz to a 200hz tv,i sew the difference when there was scrolling text onscreen,but once i tested 200 hz in demo modes,i strangely cut,nt see anny diference between 200hz on and 200hz off.

so i was getting concerned.

Wait for the 9000 series. That model will support local dimming. It will put you down about 4000 US$. Quality has it's price. Incidentally most LCD screens do support local dimming.  The only selling point is how thin this screen is. But when watching movies you sit in front of your TV and don't look at it from the side. ;-)

The 8000 series does NOT have local dimming. It's an "edge-led" TV. The 9000 series will have local dimming but from what I've understood it won't be Edge-LED either.

I keep reading people saying how the old A950 is better then this in every way because of Local Dimming..

My 6000's PQ is far sharper/clearer and 3D like vs my A950's PQ.

Firmware updates on the 6000 have improved shadow details to levels around the A950's during dark scenes.

Yes the A950 has an edge here and there but overall the 6000 wins my vote.

The A950 also suffers from issues..

It's not like the other sets dont have problems..

So I'm very positive the 8000 beats the A950.

the most advanced way to create 200hz is to create new frames from existing frames,by following the directions of moving pixels and then predicting where those pixels should,ve been between existing frames,but that requires intensive proccesing power & calculations.

No matter how good the TV looks, this LED TV doesn't have local dimming. Wait for Samsung's 9 series to be released in the fall of 2009. Flat screens may be 1 step forward, no local dimming is 2 steps back!

An example of local dimming... Say you have a candle in a dark room. These "edge-led" tv's can't display the candle in it's true brightness because the surrounding is black. The same led that lights the candle also has to dim the room. This LED TV is sold as if it were a new revolution in LED TVs where in fact it's a step backword for quality of picture. But they don't tell you that. They tell you how "thin" it is, and how little power it uses. They are throwing sand in your eyes.
