If you've never shot a gun outside a video game then keep your comments to yourself about the cops aim. He missed a moving target at what could have easily been 100 feet with what looks like an unprepared shot. If you have a rest handy that you can use to steady your aim why not use it? Just cause he used it doesn't mean he needed it. If the tools are available to you, you should use them.
I should state it was the State and Game commission that did it at the request and donations of people concerned. It was a good effort for animal conservation without enough consideration of consequences. We got a deer last year that had been shot and lived, problem was it's shoulder was full of gangrene. The animal may have lived, and not been effected, or it could have died a slow painful death weeks or months later. Hunting isn't bad, it is trophy hunters who make all hunters look bad.
like said, it would cost a serious amount more to treat the animal. I've seen more damage done by animal rights activists trying to help animals... There was an incident here in Northern PA (USA State) where it had been a bad summer, then a horrible winter, deer were starving and dying, they air lifted and dumped a large amount of corn and grain for the deer. Needless to say, starving deer, lots of food, they gorged themselves and their stomachs exploded killing whole herds, unintentionally

I hunt evey chance I get, I took two shots at deer last year which equated to 2 deer in my freezer, does that sound trigger happy. I carry a pistol every day for personal protection and it has never killed anything but a paper target, does that sound trigger happy? Guns are a tool and just like many other tools they can be misused and cause injury or death, so just like you wouldn't give an untrained person a car you wouldn't do it with a gun either.

Who will pay for the deer's treatment? Medical supplies cost money. Vets are in business to make money and would likely euthanize the deer anyway which would cost money for the drug. Twelve gauge buckshot is about $1 per shot, so shooting the injured deer was clearly the economic move. Thanks for the childish insult though.

A friend of mine is laying in the emergency room because a deer ran out infront of his motorcycle while he was doing 65 mph a mile from his house, I had one jump infront of my car this winter and do over 5k dollers worth of damnage.
You can't treat those wounds with that kind of caliber rifle...Ask any veterinarian. Broken leg sure, but rifle round plus hours of bleeding is imminent death with a lot of pain.

haha I noticed afterward that on one of the still shots you can see cop doing a resting shot on the trunk of the cruizer and the deer is right there. if the cop needs to rest the gun to shoot something at 10 yards he shouldnt be a cop. how did he qualify at the shooting range?

If you have a rest handy that you can use to steady your aim why not use it? Just cause he used it doesn't mean he needed it. If the tools are available to you, you should use them.

I should state it was the State and Game commission that did it at the request and donations of people concerned. It was a good effort for animal conservation without enough consideration of consequences. We got a deer last year that had been shot and lived, problem was it's shoulder was full of gangrene. The animal may have lived, and not been effected, or it could have died a slow painful death weeks or months later. Hunting isn't bad, it is trophy hunters who make all hunters look bad.

like said, it would cost a serious amount more to treat the animal. I've seen more damage done by animal rights activists trying to help animals... There was an incident here in Northern PA (USA State) where it had been a bad summer, then a horrible winter, deer were starving and dying, they air lifted and dumped a large amount of corn and grain for the deer. Needless to say, starving deer, lots of food, they gorged themselves and their stomachs exploded killing whole herds, unintentionally

considering it could still run, im fairly sure it was not injured beyond recovery! Ok so it cost $1 for the cartridge, who paying for the cops wages? i counted at least 3 cops in the video. there is a pest control vehicle, i assume to take away the body, who paying the pest controll guy, he isnt working for free. dont give me cost as a reason, just goes to back up my original statement of what can i expect from a bunch of dumn, gun happy americans looking for an excuse to shoot stuff.

Well when an animal is shot it can cause serious damage. Sure the animal may have survived with treatment but he would have not been able to move like he used to, meaning he would not live for long. When you eat a burger, chicken, ect those animals were raised by farmers in mass numbers in confined areas. Hunters are eating animals that had a "life". Anyways its not just Americans that hunt

I hunt evey chance I get, I took two shots at deer last year which equated to 2 deer in my freezer, does that sound trigger happy. I carry a pistol every day for personal protection and it has never killed anything but a paper target, does that sound trigger happy? Guns are a tool and just like many other tools they can be misused and cause injury or death, so just like you wouldn't give an untrained person a car you wouldn't do it with a gun either.

uhhh i'm not even american... but i do hunt... if its obviously injured without hope of being back to its normal self (if its gimped, it'd die in the wild anyway), then they'd shoot it to put it out of its misery and pain. So its the more humane thing to do.

Who will pay for the deer's treatment? Medical supplies cost money. Vets are in business to make money and would likely euthanize the deer anyway which would cost money for the drug. Twelve gauge buckshot is about $1 per shot, so shooting the injured deer was clearly the economic move. Thanks for the childish insult though.

What do you mean, like they captured the deer and took it to a vet? A deer is a wild animal they aren't like dogs or something, if you handle a deer they stress themselves out so much that they die. I highly doubt the deer would have survived the stress of a vet and recuperation it was for the best that they put it down.

yeap thats right. I see your from greese, usually deer here they are hunted during hunting season to cull the population because they can actually become a safty hazard. A friend of mine is laying in the emergency room because a deer ran out infront of his motorcycle while he was doing 65 mph a mile from his house, I had one jump infront of my car this winter and do over 5k dollers worth of damnage.

You can't treat those wounds with that kind of caliber rifle...Ask any veterinarian. Broken leg sure, but rifle round plus hours of bleeding is imminent death with a lot of pain.

exactly, anyone that fancies paying through the ass for tranquilizers, treatment and transport for them is more than welcome to, but its in the deers best interests to shoot them, over here we dont use shotguns and ive only see them put the deer down with a .234 and i think sometimes police are called out to put them down with an mp5 but that im not positive about....but yh, they need to be put down, no one wants to see them suffer ....

You people do not "hunt" you people ambush from your tree stand with lures and sometimes baiting. The deer comes to you as you just wait there. So there is "hunting' involed in 90% of 'hunting' today.
Birth control is here and will be in use much more soon. If it was for "food" then lets abolish recreational killing (sports/trophy) and stick for food only. It would be against the law to photo or video tape their death or the dead animals.
