i think the first ipod that played video was NOT the nano because i remember being a freshman or sophmore and someone pulled out the ipod VIDEO (a classic) and made me watch dane cook.

Just to let you know, you got the 2nd and 3rd gen mixed up. Top row func. buttons iPod is 3rd gen. Solid state click wheel is 2nd gen. 1st gen has a mechanical.
