  • So great to see a jazz player at such a young age! he's definitely going far with his career. by the time he's 17 he'll be another Tony Williams haha! cant wait!

  • 8 years old! That's amazing, I have over 200 students and none of them would be able to improvise in that style!

He has music in him and he's going to be a great musician if he works hard at his talent!

Some of these people obviously don't know that jazz is by far the most difficult style of drumming to master because it requires 4 way co-ordination. That's 4 DIFFERENT things being played at the same time. Most 16 year olds don't have this ability! That's why most of them play rock music.

  • comon guys!! y are u criticizing this young lad

    he rocks!!!

  • haha taiga :P name of a biome

  • its called dynamics man..

  • whats a prodigy

  • a annoying thing, very many writes he´s not so good but he´s only eight

  • Ah... im not gona pick on him... but theres not enough control. I Guess hes good for an 8 year old... but i dont think prodigy.

  • 100% agree hes not good enough yet.

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome for an 8 year old. why do people pick on a little kid. Come on! But I don't think he's a prodigy. Almost one......

  • Maybe not a prodigy, but did you see the video of him playing at 6 years old? He is a great drummer for his age. I think the previous video actually shows his talent a little more. He is trading fours...tries to get his left hand going like a jazz drummer a couple times....really impressive.

  • People are not hatin' Tony. They are hatin' you assholes that keep comparing him to an 8 year old.

  • Who the hell are these assholes putting down an 8 year old? I'm reading these dumb ass comments and can come to only one conclusion. Either they know nothing about Jazz or the are jealous of an 8 year old.

  • out of synk and suuuucks

  • ...hes eight?

  • it sounds horrible...

  • hes 8...

  • Is that blind faith or cream or what, thats tripped out, is it Traffic?

  • hes got a great feel for jazz drummin

  • this is gay

  • good...looks like the simpsons...bart drummer

  • holy shit shes awesome for 8years old

  • ヤフーのニュース見て彼を知った。

    マジ、カッコイイ。これからも頑張ってね。

  • I have one solution.. He's only 8.. practice will make him better.. when he's 10 he'll be really good.. so stop trying to knock videos.. that make you feel good about yourself? raggin on an 8 year old? get a fucking life you nerd

  • wow, he's eight years old! come on now! definition of prodigy: a person, esp. a child, with marvelous talent. DOES HE NOT HAVE MARVELOUS TALENT??!!

  • your son is very talented and you should hold your head high .. on the other hand he is not a prodigy but will be a musician like his father , if he loves it then thats all that matters .. well in that i say good luck to his journey!

  • great job mom&dad..i want a kid like that, but im not even married...darn!

  • I don't really think this kid is a prodigy, but more of a plain child who was forced to play drum set as an infant, probably by his parents. Nevertheless, he's pretty good.

  • sounds like a monkey bangin the drums, its not even that good

  • You want us to validate the opinion of someone who hasn't learned how to use plurals?

Perhaps you need to do a little crash course on jazz improvisation, and, while you're at it, English grammar.

  • What are you talking about plurals for? dude, im just talking about the drums.

  • I suppose its because I have grown tired of the inanity of the comments function on Youtube and because listening to your opinions on drumming is much the same as listening to a baboon lecture on the importance of Coltrane...it's essentially nonsensical.

  • ok, speak english plz?

  • I'm speaking English. It's you that seems to have the lexicon of aforementioned baboon...go away now please.

  • @kimbalina Inanity? Comments function? Baboon lecture? Coltrane?

First of all, I guess you mean insanity, which still doesn't make sense. Second, I don't know what the heck you mean by comments function. Third, A baboon lecture would be pretty exciting, considering they don't speak english. Fourth, the lecture would be about coltrane (Jazz musician) so it still would be exciting. Stop trying to sound smart, because there are a number of grammatical and spelling errors in your run-on sentence.

  • @DoPlease its sad how even with a computer you didn't look of the word inanity, which root word happens to be inane..lol but ill enjoy being a mediator and continue watching people slam on each other via youtube. in this case you weren't the victor but hey good try. im gonna go back to my room and watch some baboons heave shit at each other now..and kid keep up the good work on the drums..im sure ur quite the beast now

  • @kimbalina spoken like a tru hero

  • @kimbalina spoken like a tru hero, ment to say genius

  • @LoveSkittleForever trust me man...even if you dont like it that much...its pretty heavy that a 8 year old is playin coltrane......just think about it though...what were you doing at the age of 8 lol....the drums do sound pretty bad though...lol

  • hahaha grow a sense of humour. and who says drugs and church don't go together...

  • dude stfu

    it doesnt even matter

keep your comments to yourself we dont want to hear it

  • How can you compare a 24/34 year old to an 8 year old? Whats better: Oranges or RC Cars?

  • i would say Oranges

  • So would I, but your missing the point xD

  • lol retard

  • I think the bible but, don't quote me i'll have to do my research. jesus might have said something about that to but dont hold me to it.

  • Can everyone quit mentioning Tony Royster freakin' Jnr. The man is like 34 and has about 3 kids and a coupla crack addictions behind him. Taiga is fresh and awesome.

By the way Taiga's dad is also a musician, he's the sax player in this track.

  • He just released his first CD. Guiness World Records will record him as being the youngest drummer to release a jazz CD. Very Cool!! Congratulations, Taiga!! PLAY THOSE DRUMS!!! AWESOME!!

  • Tony Royster is good, but he's gotten famous because his dad was famous, etc. This kid actually aggressively tried to get in the jazz scene.

  • no. his parents wanted him to.

  • just listen when the music playes, his drums are awsome there!!!!

  • if u forget about what u know about jazz drums and just listen to what he is playing you will actually her quite a deep intense rhythm...its rather impressive imo, regardless of whether he was supposed to play something else, hes rocking that shit bigtime!!!!

  • all of u guys should shut up

how many of u could play in public at 8 years old ya hes not the best drummer in the world give him a fukin break im sure hes better than u!!!

  • at 8 already played jazz in public. wat a bout U? go fuck urself

  • First and foremost, If you cant do it dont hate. If you could do that at 8 shut up. He will be a professional drummer and endorsements He's a kid give him a break.

  • possibly because protogetic is not a word :P

  • haha, you just burned him good. hahaha

  • BALLLLS

  • you're name is sweet.

we almost have like the same thing.

    and balls?

  • everyone needs to stop calling their kid a prodigy just because they can hit the drums and not stay on beat and be retarded!!!

  • uh. this kid has made their pro debut in japan

    and his own band

and before that has performed with many famous jazz bands in japan, as well as famous people

taiga-jazz(dot)com there's an english version too but the japanese has more information.

  • wow this kid is rli good =D thing is i hate jazz hehe but well done =D

  • IF YOU HATE JAZZ = YOU HATE LIFE

  • Keep up the good work!!! These young drummers on youtube are doing something positive and have a good hobby that keeps them off video games. There is plenty of room for good drummers in the world...Keeping REAL MUSIC alive!!! Down with Drum Machines!

  • Tony ROYSTER Jr. by the way, and if you knew anything about drums you'd know that regardless of how hyped up he seems to be, in all actuality he IS 10x better than this kid. Sure this kid is pretty impressive for his AGE but in the grand scheme of things he lacks skill in some of the most basic areas of drumming. Tony Royster blows this kid away

  • you don't need soul to play drums.

  • Awesome.

charmedonetwo3, why dont you put up or shut up.

  • Yo, this kid is soloing on a Coltrane tune at 8!!! Mind you, there are rappers at 25 whom dare to call themselves "artists". This kid, along with the other outstanding young drummers etc. on Youtube are amazing. BTW... at 12/13 I was playing 5 different instruments as well.

  • charmed -- post the video to prove it or shut your boastful gob!

  • please. i did that at age 4

  • You all can say whatever you want to, to serve justice on any Coltrane tune at a young age deserves praise.

  • i wouldnt call him a prodigy....

  • This dude is pretty damn good.

  • yea true true but hes 8, but still

it doesnt sound like soul that tony royster jr has

  • tony roosteR? please. This guy is waaaay better. Tony rooster is sooo overrated.

  • no man. hes nothin special either. that little black kid pwns all

  • although he is really good for his age, when the band comes in with him at the end it sounds horrible.

  • What do I care? I am a singer, as long as the drummer turns up and doesn`t pick up my sister.

    http://www.myspace.com/kimbajazz

  • Actually Touring all over the country and have played with several major acts! Thank you dont get too cocky! Keep in mind you are praising a 6 year old who cant do fills and barley hold tempo which hurts this band over all!

  • Tony! We`re not hating, it`s just you don`t need to keep pretending to be someone else...

you are good too Tony, you are good too...

  • TONY ROYSTER JR IS SHITT'N ON ALL U HATERS

  • fills are sloppy as hell too

  • All this from a guy whose claim to fame is the Omaha Metal Fest....

    hehehehe

  • He's no TONT ROYSTER JR!!!!!!!!

  • So what? Akira Jimbo isn't Billy Cobham but they both can play. STFU and give props where they are due. Don't put children down, they may be the next to lead.

  • this kid.............IS COOOOOOOLLLL!!! Man! At least give a finger to me...

  • hes not that good

  • nice

  • Are you out of your mind? Check him as a 6 year old and you can see him 'keep a beat' -- he's playing a solo on a Coltrane tune...does that mean ANYTHING to you!

  • He's pretty good for 8. Not sure he's a prodigy though- he can't keep a beat.

  • it would sound that way, but that's actually a style. if you've ever heard those jazz trumpet solos that leap all over the music chart, people used to think that they were missing notes and screwing up as well. i think it's just whether you're used to the style or not.

  • That's so awesome!!!
