  • The Josef/Rosina Lhevinne recording is more polished, even though the sound can't compare.

  • Stunning in every way!

  • Holy. F#(^g Crap! Two geniuses playing a wonderful work by another genius! I LOVE THIS! Thanks for posting!!

  • OH MY GOD. I love this piece.

Dia fuath liom ceol clasaiceach.

  • I have heard the original orchestra version several time,

but first time to hear version for 2 pianos.

this version is wonderful, too. :)

  • Great performance from two superb pianists, shame we couldn't see them playing it, that would have topped off the experience.

  • Debussy- yeah!

Kissin and Argerich- a heavenly combination!

  • SLOW DOWWNNN

  • John Ogdon and his wife Brenda Lucas Ogdon's recording on EMI from 1960s is also a fine performance....

  • great, you must play inpersionism a bit mad and with extreme colors :P I love debussy, and argerich ! great to lisen to

  • I heard the original radio broadcast of this and was duly knocked out by the sheer energy & brilliance of these two monsters together. Listening back now, I still enjoy but, honestly it's just so speedy & on-rushing that i want to pull on the reins here & there to appreciate all those harmonies & colors a bit better! Still, a fabulous "live" event.

  • That is good stuff.

  • ピアノなのにオーケストラの音がするよ!

  • adoro a martha argerich todo lo que esa mujer hace es con mucho profesionalismo, y mas este duo con kissin de verdad que lohacen muy bien.

  • Do you know anything about this arrangement? Who is the other pianist? Frere?

  • I guess it was Kissin, but I'm not quite sure. I'll try to find out.

  • Speechless! Such amazing performance! I know its sounds a little bitchy from me to ask you, since its my first comment...but please, and i begg you! Can you give a copy of the original performance! Perfect to have it in my ipod and for studying in mine piano classes! And many thanks for the post of such a electric performance!

  • I looked around a little and it looks like Ravel arranged one or more of the Nocturnes for 2 pianos. Emil Gilels apparently made an arrangement for one piano, but this HAS to be more than one player (with no insult meant to Martha as a potential soloist intended!). Thanks for posting. So colorful!

  • In Verbier 2001 Martha played it with Kissin according to the list of her recordings, so that is an arrangement for two pianos, no doubt. By the way, I knew just now that Debussy wrote Nocturnes for orchestra! Great arrangement then! But who made it? Look at this: "Nuages has been transcribed for double piano by Maurice Ravel. Fêtes has been arranged for solo piano by the English pianist Leonard Borwick, and the arrangement has been recorded by Emil Gilels, among others." That's from wikipedia.

  • This is Ravel's arrangement. There are PDFs of it up on IMSLP if you'd like to examine them.

  • @3cplantin Ravel has transcribed all 3 Nocturnes for 2 pianos

  • @3cplantin Ravel has transcribed all 3 Nocturnes for 2 pianos

  • I just adore it!
