But it is very important that the person using it knows how and understands what readings mean of different types of radiation, and how they are relevant to the local situation. Readings in London or usa would be completely different from where you are (hopefully) and meaningless to ones in your area.

If you have a young child I urge you if it is possible to leave Japan and go to Canada ASAP for heath reasons. I do not believe that the Japanese’s government is giving the people the truth.

The device is ex-military and not for sale. You do not need this particular make or model of meter to check radiation in your area.

All you have to do is buy a radiation meter which is available locally or from usa or ebay and ask somebody who knows about these things locally, its suitability for what you want to do BEFORE buying it. It maybe worth buying an expensive one as a group with friends.
