  • seen her today ( well part of her ) completely striped down for a complete overhaul at the midland railway centre, her boilers at crewe. will take about 2 years n costing £250,000. great video mate.

  • @bbew007 Be good to have her back out on the mainline. She should be out just as Lizzie goes in for her overhaul. The Duchess seems to be one of those locos that just gets on with her job (sadly without enough recogniition). It would be nice if they could find the time/resource to get Princess Margaret Rose out as well one day though. Chris

  • Lovely video, thanks a lot for sharing it.

  • @msdejesus My pleasure (or should that be - El placer es mío)? Chris

  • @khankadet Muy bien, muchas gracias.

    ---

    Great! Thanks ;)

  • Wonderful filming, locations and engine. many thanks for uploading

  • @iantrack Thank you Ian - it was a lovely day to be out filming and the Duchess didn't disappoint. Chris

  • she looks better in red but what beauty

  • @ShaurntheSheep Colour doesn't matter to me when she's just so powerful looking. Chris

  • Thank you for this beautiful ride on the rails! She's a powerful beauty! My Father, 3/4 Weshman & inherently expertise historically in steam engine would've really love to see Black Duchess. I can see us standing there too watching her steam thru in all her glory. So in his Honour, too, thank you. {RIP Dad 1920-2006} //~_~\\

  • Lovely video, some great scenery in there as well. I think she suits the black livery makes her even more powerful looking than ever. Can certainly put the hammer down when she wants to!! Cheers Dave

  • @rosegrovempd1 Sorry I didn't reply earlier Dave - missed your comment somehow. (Old age.) It was a beautiful day out in Wales and Conwy and the Duchess both sparkled in the sunshine. Although I don't care what colour they are as long as they are running I agree that black does suit her. I travelled behind her last October over Shap and she has plenty of power. Chris

  • Locomotive looks great in the black livery, shame about the multi-coloured collection of rubbish strapped behind it. A bit like the bride wearing a gown, and the bridesmaids in shell-suits!

  • @struck2soon Ha, ha, what a superb description. But at least it was steam on the mainline. Chris

  • Very striking location at Conway Castle, I don't think I've seen a vid from here before. Also great to have included the surviving Tubular Bridge after the loss of Menaii in the fire.

  • @JimTLonW6 Thanks Jim. It was a bit of a climb but the town looked at it's best in the warm spring sunshine with, as you mention, a good view of the Tubular Bridge. Chris

  • Another one of your high quality vids! Thanks for sharing.

  • @fatheribrahim11 Thanks Roy. You're very kind. Chris

  • Nice video. She certinly looked good. I saw you filming at Penmaenmawr.

    5* + fav

  • @KBRAILVIDEOS Thanks Kyle - I saw two people on the sands and wished I had time to get that side of the track. Strangely one minute I was on my own then, suddenly, I was surrounded by 5 or 6 photographers. Chris

  • That was a stunning video Chris, and doesn't she look good in black, I didn't think I would like it, but these handsome machines look good in any colour...Bob

  • @robmasterman Thanks Bob. Personally I still like her former colour but agree this makes a pleasant change and, I think, makes her look even more powerful/business like. At the end of the day I'm pleased to see her in any colour. Chris

  • you did better than me, i had a terrible day. people gettin my shot some deliberately so not sure if i can salvage anythin. some great locations well done

  • @puffernutterlou That's a shame Lou - hope you can find something worth showing. Chris

  • Superb video Chris - really captured her in all her power. I especially love it as she exits the tunnel at Conway whistling and steam on. And the black makes for an interesting change too - looking forward to seeing her myself. Cheers, David.

  • @Linesider1 Thanks David. As you know the route's so flat it's a job to find her working so the restart from Llandudno is the safest bet and Conway looked good in the sun. She really looks different in black - as you say it makes a change. Chris

  • I really like this vid! If only all Youtube video's were so good! 5*

  • @37401MadRich Thanks Richard. Sometimes I get a bit lucky with weather and locations. However, one man's meat ..... I'm sure there'll be someone somewhere moaning about the long intro before there's any sign of a loco. Chris

  • @stephengthompson Thanks Steve - I am a bit concerned that it seems a slow start but Conway looked so good (town walls then castle then estuary) in the sun I thought it worth the minute or so to download. We'll see how many complaints it generates. Chris

  • A great site to view the charter train, and an excellent video. I am in the rear coach on this occasion, so it is nice to see how the train looks from the outside..

  • @catman2007 I am glad to be of service to a paying customer and I hope you enjoyed your trip. It looks like the Duchess put in yet another great performance. Chris

  • Excellent video 5*

  • @EMuksteam Thanks Emlyn. 'Twas a good day out. Chris

  • Pro quality again mate........EXCELLENT!!!

  • @efiste2 Thanks - glad you enjoyed it. Chris

  • Excellent Chris..

  • @ralph5407 Cheers Ralph and thanks for your updates and chat. Chris

  • Amazing:D My fav loco as i live 2 mins from her home, im helping out with the overhaul :D!

  • @EastMidlandsSteam Thanks Dave. She's a credit to all who have anything to do with her. Now if you can put in a good word for PMR as well I'd be grateful. She deserves her turn on the mainline as well. Chri

  • Great footage Chris. I was down at sea level at Conwy (will upload later). I know some purists dont like the livery change, but I think it makes a refreshing change. Mike

  • @rab4472 Thanks Mike - I'll look out for your upload. I don't care what colour she is as long as she's on the mainline but I agree it does make a change. Chris

  • I really enjoyed this video. The Duchess looks superb in the new black livery. I am trying to find a video editing program for Linux Ubuntu that works as well as iMovie for the mac. Any suggestions??

  • @epcotcentre Thanks Paul. I am not a Linux user but have heard that Blender and maybe Kino do a good job. But I am not wise enough to recommend anything. Chris

  • Excellent selection of shots Chris, nice to see the turning circle at Valley included.

  • @acw71000 Thanks Austin - I asked the regulars how things normally work out on the triangle and then the Duchess goes towards the servicing area rather than the headshunt first. We hung around for twenty minutes or so (before the boss got fed up) and she didn't move any further and no servicing vehicles turned up. I had expected a tanker or at least a coal supply but perhaps they were already "on site" but not in view. Chris

  • Fantastic video well done

  • @ffeog4568 Thnaks Geoff. She looked good in the sunshine. Chris
