I'm not even a fan of the original Transformers, but I know a shit film when I see one.
Michael Bay doesn't have the preserved sense of childlike awe or the artistic soul necessary to adapt something that probably occupies the same headspace to the fans as Daniel Boon and Davey Crocket did for their elders. He's a straight-up hack.
Emmerich, whatever you say of his films, has an excellent, maybe even unique sense of visual composition and design. He's the Mozart of mass destruction.
Assumptions? His films are SHIT from a film-making standpoint, and the TF films are the worst yet. He's the biggest hack since Hot Coffee. Worst than ANYTHING Uwe Boll has done.
2012 was a near perfect film for it's given genre and subject matter. It knew what it wanted to be and gave the audience what it wanted, and gave NOTHING it didn't want.
As to the films you listed, aside from Godzilla and 10K BC, frankly...
Why do you feel that you can judge films from a "film Making Standpoint"? Are you a writer? producer? gaffer?
ha. ha. ha. Near perfect film? there were so many close calls in that movie that it lost all its suspense right about the time the plane was inches away from crashing into the 4th las vegas building. and you cant drive like that in a freaking limo! it was just stupid.
Who's to say I'm not, you fucking idiot. You're talking out of your ass without giving a moment's thought to anything you're saying.
OF COURSE every big disaster in the movie was overcome at the very last second. Would it BE suspenseful if it WASN'T? That's where suspense COMES FROM. This movie is MEANT to be a bit goofy without the self-awareness that would cripple it. Everything on display is why you SEE movies like this. Complaining about it is like complaining about a Western having horses.
Could you read? I asked if you were. now, are you? hmm? i would like to know.
it would been alright if they would have realistically escaped from their situations but come on! No collapsing building is going to give a limo 20 seconds to get through it.
Spoiler alert.
And freaking arks! are you kidding me? giant fucking boats in the Himalayas!
I don't need to show any credentials to outwit you, buddy. I'm responding in kind because you happen to be painfully wrong.
"Realistically"? Wow, you're dumber than I thought, I bet you hated the Snowmobile chase sequence in Modern Warfare 2 for lack of "realism". 2012 demonstrates it's not realistic based on it's doomsday premise alone. Realism is overrated, disaster movies SHOULD have those 1 in a million skin-of-your-teeth escapes.
Yes, Emmerich makes silly movies, but he makes them WELL.
credientials would help to make you seem like you know what your talking about. without them all i see is a little kid who spends too much time cussing people out on youtube in order to defend their movies.
You don't need to have or show credentials to be right, you just have to have the stronger argument. How about YOUR credentials then? What would make you any more or less qualified to critique films than me? Your arguments for Transformers and against 2012 and Emmerich have been paper thin and grossly underthought. Unfortunately, this is the very reason that films that are critically acclaimed often receive poorer revenue than a mindless, heartless blockbuster. Look at District 9 for God's sake.
Metroplex? Cool!

Fuck Michael Bay, they need to hire Rolland Emmerich to clean up his mess. This series needs a reboot.

whats up with all you geeks and the transformers series?
I don't give a crap about the series.
and Rolland Emmerich?
Independence day is the only thing decent that he has worked on.

then why did you mention the series?
I assume that you first had a conversation with Micheal Bay before you made your assumptions about his mental and artistic capabilities?
Mozart of mass destruction??
in 2012 all that i saw was a bunch of buildings moving up and down. so how would Rolland be a better director of transformers?
2012, 10,000 Bc, Day after tomorrow,Godzilla (1998), and Eight Legged Freaks. ALL shit films!

I mentioned it as a series of films, dumbass.
