@DrEuthanasia our main website actually is illumi-nations (dot) com . We strongly suggest the Brass yagi antenna (stronger than PVC version and better quality product). We will also release a new version in the next few days with even more power and twice the reception sensitivity.
By "internet signal" does she mean someone opens network that this helps you steal? Nice. I normally wouldn't mind except the theft would be based on ignorance, not cleverness.
Sure it works without a built-in wifi card in your computer because this is already a wifi card by itself. (the wifi module is soldered directly on the antenna so there no signal loss).
@innovativedevice No i have a hp pavilion dv4 with built in wifi, im wondering how the yagi would take over as the wifi . Would i have to go in and shut of the hp wifi some how?
Most of the time we suggest to disable the wifi card in your computer before using the yagi antenna, this way there no possible conflict and you can be sure the signal you get is the one from the yagi. You can keep both wifi open but depending of your Operating system this mean that you must switch from one to the other through the wifi manager interface. All Laptops have button to disable the wifi so it is way easier to proceed that way.
Both give about same strength (for same dBi) all depends of the design you like most. Our products are modular (made of 3 parts that you can carry everywhere in a suitcase and this is almost impossible with a panel antenna of same strength) So yagi antenna (modular) is a better choice for portable solution.
If you want the USB version yes you need a long cable, but the good thing is you will never loose signal strength using USB cable. You must use USB repeaters for this setup. An other solution would be our combo yagi/router, you install on the roof and you broadcast in the house through wireless.
All depends if you are in clear line of sight. You can catch signal 10 miles away in clear line of sight (using 2 units, one on each side) but only a few hundreds of ft. if there threes and building in the way. Look on our Website for more details and contact us directly for your specific needs. And remember that our new Yagi in Brass is 10% stronger than this one.
yeah illegal my ass my best friend leaves his open for me to connect to its up to the people to leave there routers open if u dont want anyone on it fuckin lock it yes open wifi is fine "HENSE WIFI COFFEE SHOPS" fuck even i just read a page some of the television componys r gona start havin free wifi for peoploe to get on so they can log on and watch shows on the net now things r changing in this world its just to bad closed minded fuckin idiots dont realize it
Hi, I purchased 2 of these antennas from your company and they work great. I also purchased the combo yagi/router which I can't seem to locate the instructions for setting it up. I tried e-mailing your company and did not get a responce.
Don't know why you not got answer so far (we always answer inside 24 hours except week-end). Maybe the answer drop in your spam folder? I am not able to send the direct link in youtube so please send me back an email for the userguide link. If you have not pressed the reset button you can connect to the router using 192.168.14.1 Otherwise y ou need to use 192.168.1.1 and username/password are always root/admin
Please note that we also sell a combo yagi/router to catch distant wireless signal and broadcast on your side at the same time (so you don't need to "bridge" a computer into the equation!
No software needed (the router is already programmed but you need to setup in repeater mode... I mean you need to let the router know the wifi signal to catch). This is made through the router interface (from your web browser).
What is illegal is stealing wifi signal, Most people use this to get signal from a free access point or simply share their connexion with friends. The product itself is not illegal, it is like a wireless router with highly directional signal. And signal emission is lower than authorized by FCC so nothing to worry.
I bought this yagi antenna on ebay, it works well but I was a bit dissapointed with its construction. I bought the model that comes in two pieces & it isnt the sturdiest of material (made of wood composite with two metal dowels holding the two parts together). I would NOT mount this outside without some further protection.... like say inside a plastic pvc pipe to protect it from the elements). One note: I DO love how it is connected via a usb cable... that was the biggest selling point for me.
In addition... I suggest using netstumbler software and then modifying it using netcrumbler (so you can aim while connecting... netstumbler doesnt allow you to do that on its own... the netcrumbler patch fixes it to where you can).
Otherwise you will be stumbling in the dark trying to aim the antenna to get the best signal.
Hi, For your information the boom is already made of PVC foam (Not wood composite). The PVC foam is especially use because you can put outdoor without problem (water resistant and UV proof). You can put outside at no risk (like thousands of our customers), you will get better signal and the USB cable allow you the length needed to connect on a computer inside without losing signal strength).
I have this WIFI yagi antenna and it works GREAT! It is available on EBAY.
Fuck all of those homemade dishes, potato chip cans, and other bullshit how-to videos on YouTube, just buy this YAGI, plug it up to your USB port and you are DONE! Enjoy Free internet, it will pay for itself.
Where Can I buy One????
