It's interesting that several US states have or are in the process of making gold and silver as legal tender. I would like to of known what his thoughts regarding this. Buy silver as it has been suppressed much more and so it's potential value will far exceed gold.

I've never heard such nonsense. It doesn't matter whether money is dates / paper / electronic, if it's backed by something, it's ok. The answer is to get governments out of the money business (because they just print it & they have no backing for it) & let people use what they want for money. Raba. What rubbish. If it wasn't for capitalism with its lending, borrowing, interest & invesment which made everybody better off, you wouldn't be watching this, you'd still be in a tent in the desert.

When you say get government out of money business, do you mean give the 'printing money' to a third party? Is it not what happens in America?? Did you realise that printing money is one of the most profitable business? How would you check the integrity of your print contractor?

Lending made everybody better off?? Pls look at the current scenario of 'Global Recession'...

@khalzie If you print money, then you must be careful how much you print. If you print more than you can back up, the value of it will drop and people's confidence in it will decrease, so you could end up going out of business. In other words, you must be responsible in money-printing. This is not a new idea, it's happened before. Governments have no such responsibility, they can print what they want. (Search 'George Selgin' and watch his lecture on 'The Private Supply Of Money.')

@khalzie Lending is charging rent for money, just like rent on a car, a house, etc. 1 If a bank lends some money to a person & he spends it on something which is an investment, he becomes better off & the bank is happy because he can pay the money back. 2 - If a bank lends some money to a person & he blows it on a new phone, a holiday, etc, he's no better off and he has not increased his ability to pay the money back, so the bank isn't happy. What's happening now is 2 & that's the problem.

I'm sure you know how it all started when these banks in the greed to get some 'business/interest/profit/bonu­s.....' started handing our loans to people who did not have the ability in the first place to pay it back... bad banking.

@khalzie And those banks should have been allowed to go out of business - not be bailed out. That would have sent a strong message to the banks: 'Be careful who you lend your money to' and to people: 'Be careful which bank you put your money in'.
