The mounts cost me $60, with new isolators. All I have to worry about now is a drive shaft and possible radiator connections, nothing too major. The htdrolic clutch lines should be fairly easy to adapt the dodge slave to the ford 7.3 liter 3/4 bore master.
I thought about getting the right torque converter but the 700R4 (unless built correctly) is a weak point I didn't want to deal with later. I also like standards better then autos, So I went looking for good trans set and found the 5 speed getrag with all the trimmings. After I sold my GM adapter set I ended up only paying $400 for the entire dodge trans set plus a couple hundred for a new clutch. I've since bought a Quad cab Ford, and sourced the ford engine mounts needed for the swap.
Why don't you just change out torque converters? That would be cheaper than buying standard tranny. Also what are costs and hardships? From engine mounts to transmission connections.
I found a 5 speed getrag and dodge adapter set. I'm looking for a truck to swap it all in now. I got a line on a nice 85 ford step side in nice shape. I need the cummins ford engine mounts like what are found in the box trucks with the 4BT.
Also the GM adapter set I have now are going to be up for sale along with the Chevy engine stands and isolators.
i can tell you how to identify the gear ratio. Open your glovebox and see the white sticker with codes, well anything that starts with a G will be the rear.. tell me what i has and i can tell ya what gears it is.
700R4. The truck had the 4.3L V6 previously. Not sure what it has in it for gears. I could find out.
My major concern is the 700R4 is a gasoline tranny and not set up fordiesel. I fear it wont hold up long. I'm in the market for an inexpensive standard transmission replacement. That and my rear end will most likely need to be swapped out as well. What I'd really like is to redo this into a crew cab or extended cab....
I used a set of stock Ford mounts that came off an 89 F-100 with a 300 I6.
The Chevy in the video had fabricated mounts, the new home of the 4B is an 88 Quad cab F250 with the factory 300 I6 mounts..

I didn't have an extended cab at the time, and I'm still looking for one now. In the mean time I need to get the truck on the road...

it would of been a lot easier to drop the cumimins in a ext. cab and interchange the boxes.
