They're are wrong in their explication of friction, it has nothing to do with surface, its only a question of mass.

precisely-- friction is surface vs surface, not mass and weight. The only reason heavier things are harder to drag is because you have a downward force that is fighting against your horizontal force, not friction. Think of it like little bumps-- if you apply more pressure, you aren't creating more bumps on the surface, but you're simply changing the overall force from sideways to downward.

Actually the force of friction is derived both from the mass and the coefficient of friction, which is based on the surface material of the objects in question.

You know technically I disagree with the fact that they busted the myth it's impossible to rip two phone books interwoven together apart.

Sure with a couple of tanks you can do it, but that's under EXTREME measures. By any means available in a common day environment, you're not ripping those phone books apart.
