Shawn...Who cares, honestly, i'm having a hard time understanding your beef with the game. It's all about illusion, and you are completelly missing it in COD4. People like the game because it's great fun, sometimes people just don't give a flying fuck about certain things you can't do.
What matters is the end result, how you feel at the end of the game. You are trying too hard to dismiss what this game does right.
This game did what COD1 did right, and that's the problem. COD1 came out years ago, and then COD1 came out again.. and again. The hype machine on the console side is like full scene antialiasing for games, would even make Garnet Lees face look smooth.
You are right, but if you feel like the game is full of cheap deaths and infinitely respawning enemies in what is supposed to be a 'realistic' game, then afterwards you feel like the game was crap or atleast feel like the game is extremely disappointing.
To me, the game does many things right, but the wrongs are too large to be ignored. Seemingly 98% of the reviewers decided that graphics>>>the problems. Just my opinion.
Maybe there was a live grenade thrown by the car just before you got the checkpoint. If not, then that's just a poor design choice to have that car kill you every time you try to approach from the right. When I played that section, I just went straight through the middle, so I didn't encounter this.
Just blow up the damn car, THEN go past it :)

I feel that CoD4 was the worst in the series, besides that god awful Finest Hour.

you walk up a stairway. you have two choices:
1. walk straight
2. take a turn to the right.
