I chanced to catch this performance on TV all those years ago. It was yet another talent show (the last one I ever bothered watching) - and she had it! I remember sitting transfixed by this gorgeous redhead, and 30 years on she still sounds pure gold. How good to hear to someone with a trained voice doing justice to a lovely English melody. I, too, could listen to this for 100 years; rock on, Louise!
Only For You, the man God gave me and intends for me to marry, I give all of myself to you to the best of my ability according to His Holy Will, for as long as he wills it, I love you.You know who you are.
Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
@MartinHH1953 This is the kind of thing you post? LOL!!! Never fails. Take a walk through any beautiful pasture, and there's always at least one pile of annoying cow shit, crying out for attention. Well done sir, well done.
The Sweet Confusion (Trojan Skinhead Reggae) version is still my favorite, however, this video is classic. Nice incorporation of fog. Hand in the pocket was a performance plus. Also, I've always felt that drummers are much too close to the rest of the band.
Now I hope those beautiful blue eyes God Blessed you with will be dark blue in bliss forever. Happier yet, of course we are, We aRe his blessed Holy Will, Souls joined as one.
@DigitalGrotto don't be such a moron and homophobic. She's a brilliant opera singer and is accompanied by Tim Smit and Charlie Skarbek who will have had more success in one week than you will manage your whole life.
@DigitalGrotto "an inferior piece of music" that's still being performed after 59 years across the world by orchestras and performers. Your ignorance clearly knows no limits.
Midnight Blue, Hush and this song was first introduced to me by a dear friend in the 80's. I lost this music but happily found it again now by accident, thanks to you! :o)
Thanks for posting this! I remember hearing this version on the radio in the mid 80's and loved it. Does anyone know if Ms. Tucker's music will eventually be on iTunes?....I'd love to buy this song in particular (and not feel like I'm ripping her off by listening to it for free on YouTube!). Thanks again for posting it!
Wat a rarity--beautiful music, beautiful lyrics, beautifully delivered. I first heard this song almost 30 years ago. Pop meets a minuet. Lovely. Listen to her Midnight Blue and Hush.
Ok, first of all, I have an original cassett, yes cassett from 1982 called Midnight blue Louise Tucker. Its almost 30 yrs old, the video is almost 30 yrs old miss tucker is the original. she was and still is an opera singer. The rest of the tape, album, cd is also excellent if you can find one. They are available from her web site, cheers!
The more you listen to Louise singing this the more you appeciate that she has the voice for it. I thibnk I think it's the production side that has let this version down. I'd still go for Eva Lind's version because the choir give her version lots more depth. But still, I like Louise's version for it has a certain amout of excitement about it lacking from many other cover versions.
I did not expect to agree with you, but I do! I listen to Eva's version quite often and my young daughters know this in German because of her! (They are 3 and 6 and take turns singing the choir or Eva!) Eva's transports us to ancient homes even when we sing it alone, sans youtube!
What an astonishing voice! Lovely to hear such perfect pitch. I seem to have missed Louise first time around, must have been partying a bit to hard back in the 80's.
I say Gussie..ta' for posting this! Didn't know it had lyrics...beautiful. Shame about the dated look but who cares..Tucker did have a lovely voice, wot?
The whole album is good. When I was a teen, I couldn't afford to buy this cassette, because a was very poor. I bought this album on cd about 10 years ago from amazon which was very hard to find.

A truly brilliant tune, magnificent song, tremendously delivered, just a pity she can,t keep still ! all that swaying around makes me seasick ! She was obviously not adept at making videos , poor girl
Fantastic 80's electric sound with a great voice and mix. Sounding a bit dated now though. I remeber Steve Allen playing this on LBC Radio in London at the time
When I was little, in the '60's, my mother was into classics and she had the original on vinyl. When she played this it touched my 5 yr old heart so much I used to hide under my bed and cry!!!!
I'm an American and I love reading how this song makes the hearts of the Brits soar. The best actors, the best musicians, the best writers and composers, in my opinion come out of that great country.
Almost any arrangement of this quintessential English classic has the potential to bring tears to my eyes , wherever i travel it reminds me that i will always belong to my beloved England
I thought the video and Louise Tucker are spectacular. I feature an introduction and link from the Mantovani Fan Website. What a magnificant voice and style!
I don't know if everyone knows but the Elizabethan Serenade was written by Mantovani arranger, accordionist, Ronald Binge who actually developed the signature Mantovani sound.
There's a better version out there, from a kid that was 16, Tahlia Racz. will try and find it as may not be on youtube. that version has real heart, and a voice!
Love this version the woman is fantastic I have loved Elizabeth Seranade since I was a child and think Youtube and the chap who put this wonderful version on should be rewarded! My eternal thanks Sean
Tis tune means England to me! I am English, but have lived in the US for 40 years now. I used to love the tune when I was "back home" and it strikes me as being so very English. This is a remarkable version--and I think I too, would like it played at my funeral!
I agree I am english to and have loved this song all my life but this one sends shivers up my spine and would love it played at my funeral what a fantastic woman Rule britania
I never knew it had lyrics. I have loved this piece for 25 years and had wanted it played at my wedding, but could not find sheet music. Seems odd now knowing that others want it at their funeral!
This is the first time I have heard this version of Elizabethan Serenade and it is totally brilliant. A fantastic rendition which works perfectly - I could listen to it all night.
I love this song also and listen to it at least 3 or 4 times per day. I absolutely love her outfit. Isn't it much more sensible than what passes for performers' costumes currently?
It's better than what we see now, but I'm not crazy about it as far as costumery. It's still as distracting because I am thinking, "Why is she wearing that? It's so wrong for the song!" as opposed to, "Go cover yourself up!" The outfit should not make you think of it other than how perfect it is with the song.
I played my Midnight Blue CD so many times that it wore out on this song and the Midnight Blue CD! I sing along like crazy in my car to it, but I have no voice for singing. My children see me sing all the time and they sing as well, but they have precious voices. They aren't the stars in their choir, and you can say that they have more passion than talent (like their mom!) but they'll still be singing long after the "stars" quit!
I have been a Louise Tucker fan for many, many years. I have been in love with this piece since I first heard it more than 20 years ago. THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this video. It is so wonderful and uplifting!!!!
She is from England. Her website says she left pop music after a couple of albums and returned to Opera I think. Anyway, I bought my copy of Midnight Blue from her site and it is a shame you can't find it any other way. Real collectors item.
Haha! I love it. I really love Elizabethan Serenade, so this is a great variation on a great song. Could this video be more 80's though? From the dueling synthesizers to the super high pants to the shoulder-padded blazer to the 80 chick fro.....it's so glorious!
Wow! What a glorious track from this gifted female artist. The song just soars to new heights. Great stuff! Bless you, Louise Tucker. Thank you for this clip gussie5555.
I say, I'm rather surprised! I didn't know anyone had put this to lyrics. She has a lovely voice...shame about the 80's looking outfit and hair though! But really what a beautiful voice!
