I work out at home and I do exercises with my weights for powerful legs but I only do squats and calf-exercises. That's all that I need. But this video is really helpful! Thanks for posting this!
Same here but I sometimes use heavy resistant bands for squats and a weighted vest as well as dumbbells. I can't even think of a single reason to bother to go to a gym so far.
That's how you destroy your lower back on a squat. Notice how his knees pass his feet and how his heels raise off of the ground. All of your weight should be on the heel in a squat, it should NEVER lift off the ground.
For fux sake this guy is only making a SUGGESTION and its a good workout..we dont get to see the bodies of the idiots leaving stupid comments..and..i dont believe ANY 16 year old kid is doing heavier than this guy...plus hes FIT!!!
If I solely front squat once a wk, can I get away with never back squatting. The reason I avoid back squat is because I tore my left acl playing football a yr and half ago. Front squats feel better. Thanks. This vid was sick.
@maxkila Probably not. This is a mass-building exercise program. You might see a small increase, but this program is not designed for vertical improvement.
@Rogerio34567 "True Fitness" is a subjective view. Being able to run doesn't mean you're in shape, or strong, or even healthy. The best "athletes" in the world are Decathaletes. They combine everything, but probably can't run a 6 minute mile.
@Rogerio34567 marathoners have emaciated frames compared to sprinters. the human body is designed to exert energy in short powerful bursts and this is something which is equally as important as aerobic endurance.
@Rogerio34567 true fitness incorporates strength, endurance and flexibility. However, some people are genetically built more for strenght training (i.e. mesomorphs) so they are more advanced at that particular aspect of fitness while others (ectomorphs) are built more for running. Those legs couldn't run a mile in 6 minutes but then again a runner couldn't do the reps that this man could. Both of these individuals would be considered in great shape.
@Rogerio34567 True physical fitness is a balance of all 7 components of physical fitness, aerobic endurance, muscular endurance, strength, speed, flexibility, power and body composition.
@PIECE2YOURMOTHA usually going below 90 degrees when going down takes pressure off the knees, but if thats still a problem then a safer option is to do the leg press machine at the gym or switch to lunges or stepups instead
I have a question about squats! Are you suppose to keep your legs wide or close!? I stayed away from from doing them because I don't wonna damage any thing by doing it wrong!
@fatalityhawk Please explain to me why does the guy in this video have his legs pretty close together. I find it to work my legs more when they are closer together than when they are at shoulder width. Alot of ppl say shoulder width but to me the closer the more pump i get in my thighs.
Also I was curious if it is better to do squats barefoot than wear sneakers?
@ARMYRYAN48 yeah sorry bout that, dont squat with legs close together unless youre isolating your quads, which could only benefit an advabced bodybuilder and not an average person training for fitness and definition. your thighs feel more pumped when the legs are closer together because the load is put onto them
from experience it doesnt make much difference what footwear you use when you squat or none at all.
@IcemanCyclops80 I've always heard you can do them either way. Wide stance, or sumo stance, puts more emphasis on the hips (and glutes too). While narrower stance is more quads and hamstrings. Remember, with squats go ass to the grass. The deeper you go the better you'll work those legs. And get a firm ass. Chicks love a toned ass.
@IcemanCyclops80 depending on what feels comfortable with you, all though you should do a variety with feet wide facing outward, legs shoulder width apart and feet straight and legs closer again with feet straight also make sure you always be leaning back on your heels not have the weight falling forwards to your toes and your heel lifting off the ground
I know this may sound stupid and may have been asked countless of times... Does squatting heavy weights Stunt your growth? (say 8/10 of your own weight) I'm starting to worry.. I started squats half a year ago and uptil now i've only grown 2cm. I'm 14 and 175 cm currently..
@BkkCheesepie 14 is a bit too young to start squatting heavy. You should lay off the HEAVY squats for atleast a year and try excercises such as bar hangs to counteract spinal compression from the squats as this is a stage when your bones are still growing. You can still continue to work your legs using bulgarian splits squats and lunges with lesser weight. If you do decide to keep squatting then be sure to do sets of bar hangs after your squat sets to offset the spinal decompression.
@fatalityhawk Thank you bro, How long should i hang usually? for every 10 squats I'd hang for a minute?? I just roughly need a rule of thumb, sorry to bother you...
@BkkCheesepie It's alright, hang for as long as you can hold it and do 3-4 sets atleast at the end of your workout. this also helps to stretch out the muscles of your back, and your chest too if you take a wider grip.
14 years old and 175 cm. Its really not weird that you have grown 2 cm in half a year. you might have just had your growth spurt. and so you are currently in a resting phase. you should go to a docter or any other health supervisor to see how long you will be. But don't think your growth suddenly stopped. i'm 17 and i had a growth spurt some time ago wich got me to 183 cm. And i'm still growing, it might go slow but it goes on.
@BkkCheesepie stunt in your growth will not happen- that whole idea of stunting growth came into play during the times where children were working manual labor all types of crazy hours. Lift 3- 4 days a week and eat right. and please get your sleep. If anyone wants to challenge this answer deal with the Department of Health and Human Services.
@beastinn999991111 Don't you know that bodybuilders focus on sculpting their body, i.e it doesn't matter how much they lift as long as their body is as fit as possible. Now i want to see you lift more than a powerlifter.

@pongo713 ik what u mean stuff like leg press is pretty garbage for football. personnally i do squats and front squats, deepp squats, lunges, then all the olympic lifts that require explosion. last i usually do leg extensions and leg curls not rly for power but strenth and just more size they are a good finisher u know? somtimes i even throw in tornado ball training for intense core work at the end
In the video it said that squats are the best overall workout for legs and that's what most trainers say too. So does that mean it's not necessary to use leg press?
I don't have a gym membership but have about 150kg dumbell/barbell set at home, how can I work on my legs effectively? Or do I need to go to the gym to get the best results for legs like; squats and leg press.

@fatalityhawk Thanks for the reply bro. The only thing is, with 150kg of weight plates and a barbell, I don't have any way to squat large weights. ie; a squat frame to hold the bar. So im not quite sure how to work around that dilemma as it's hard to lift the weight from the ground up to my shoulders without straining my back...
@TheHazcam ah yeah, cant really help you there man, squatting huge weights without a rack is pretty dangerous, on the plus side you should still be able to get a decent workout from squatting lighter weights for more reps and deadlifting heavy.
@fatalityhawk I never do a warm up. That's why I do a 3 -5 min warm up on a cario machine. You're always going to be alittle sore as long as you are progressing.
@killer66667 I can do 1 sqaut with 200 lbs but if I am actually exercising I lift 60 lbs or something like that... I am 13, 6.1 feet and 180 lbs(75 kg, it may mean 160 lbs not sure) and I am in the school rugby team. Any suggestions for me? I am the loosehead prop.
@egeseatr35 If you are going to be propping legs, core and shoulder are key strength areas. Deadlift is the ultimate Rugby Lift followed closely by squat, military and bench. Lift heavy with low reps
@koberocks5ring they will make you more expolosive. if you really want to improve your running though you gotta actually practice running to boost endurance and speed
@oakesy91 haha ikr i do the same thing all the time i was just saying to check the description because i do the same thing all the time and people say it to me
weight lifting is too hard for me why would you put yourself through this i get tired just watching it cause im 27 i live with my mom spend all day on the computer and have no balls
2-3 min rest between sets is too long. i start loosing the pump after that long! the shorter the rest period the higher GH levels are post workout! rest 1 min is great, rest 30 sec GH levels will be 50% higher than 1 min rest!!!!! Proven by studies! plus it adds a crazy intensity to workouts
@Griz675 true but i find personally that for compound movements like squat and bench 2-3 mins is ideal because it lets you use much more weight and fully hit the muscle without losing too much pump. some pros take upto ten minutes rest but i wouldnt reccomend that.
To each his own... personally i rest a maximum of 1:30mins for compound moves (personal pref), but for variety and a shock for the muscle short rests are a good way to promote hypertrophy and increased GH. Not disagreeing with u, i totally agree i do the same thing, but instead of using heavy weight to overload the muscle some times i use pure intensity of a 30sec rest. Same result different approach.
All in all u have a solid training program, keep up the good work!
@Justus6890 tru, not that i do squats this way, but body builders do because it builds up your thigh muscle a lot more than it would with a wider stance. they lift for the look, not for the functionality of the movement
everything looks good to me I might actually start using lunges/hip bridge. Looks like a good leg routine. just start with light weight and wrap your knees.
hi guys i have a good upper body and good thigh but ive got skiny calves i do alot of running hill running as well but they are still skinny and look funny any idea how can i make muscel on them its just thin its got muscel but i want it to be a littl bit more muscly any ideas brothrs?thank you.
Low reps with a heavy weight for bulking and high reps with low weights for cutting. This is the general principle of muscle gain. It depends on each person but generally holds true.
hmm i thought you have to do high reps for lower body? like 12-20, instead of the normal 6-12 for upper body, and iam talking about bodybuilding.

koberocks5ring 1 year ago
@koberocks5ring they will make you more expolosive. if you really want to improve your running though you gotta actually practice running to boost endurance and speed

Griz675 1 year ago
@Griz675 true but i find personally that for compound movements like squat and bench 2-3 mins is ideal because it lets you use much more weight and fully hit the muscle without losing too much pump. some pros take upto ten minutes rest but i wouldnt reccomend that.
fatalityhawk 1 year ago
To each his own... personally i rest a maximum of 1:30mins for compound moves (personal pref), but for variety and a shock for the muscle short rests are a good way to promote hypertrophy and increased GH. Not disagreeing with u, i totally agree i do the same thing, but instead of using heavy weight to overload the muscle some times i use pure intensity of a 30sec rest. Same result different approach.
All in all u have a solid training program, keep up the good work!

@Griz675 agreed and thanks

he wasnt even doing the squats right
MrEthioSwagg 2 years ago 3
agree
if you keep doing your squats like this, you will ruin your knees
Justus6890 2 years ago 3
@Justus6890 tru, not that i do squats this way, but body builders do because it builds up your thigh muscle a lot more than it would with a wider stance. they lift for the look, not for the functionality of the movement
coudu8ed 1 year ago
agreed - will the fuck his knees.......probably won't feel it with all the roids
postman46 2 years ago
what isnt he doing correctly? i used to have bad knees but i want to slowly start doing squats.
priegelienie 1 year ago
everything looks good to me I might actually start using lunges/hip bridge. Looks like a good leg routine. just start with light weight and wrap your knees.

jeboxer12345 2 years ago
Low reps with a heavy weight for bulking and high reps with low weights for cutting. This is the general principle of muscle gain. It depends on each person but generally holds true.
