played a 5 hour game today.. wow it was epic xD Usually takes 2-3 hours but this time each player except me died 4-5 times in the beginning. Then it was just a downward spiral to hell rest of the game ^^ Usually NOBODY dies so this was extremely funny to see how everything that could go wrong - did!
The only way to avoid such situations is to play calmly, without unnecessary risking. ... But on the other hand risky strategy can bring victory ( especialy when theres big number of players).
as far as I know both games are similar. I've just leafed through WofW tAG rules. Runebound seems to be a little more deep and complicated (especially combat system), has got darker climate (more blood, violence, gore, death, ghouls etc), there arealso more expansions.
Whichever game you get in your hands - JUST ENJOY.
Start a game with eg. 10 gold per Hero and establish a rule that 3 experience points are needet to gain 1 experience counter. That should help to shorten time of the game.
Goddamn, this game is fracking awesome. Just had a game from 20.00 till 00.30. We played the expansion with the giants (second ed.) Tiresome yet so awesome. My favourite part: beating an enemy and the reward was to pick the first Rune in the deck. The Rune turned out to be the teleportation card (13 coins). Cool, but alas it didn't bring me victory. My girlfriend won.
You've noticed it right. But it is my brother with about 12 levels and plenty of Items and Allies.(He do not like risky game, he prefers to slowly "build" his Hero). My hero in this game - Mad Carthos , has got about 5 levels. I've been forced to take risk (even managed to obtain 1 Dragon Rune)but my opponent pulled out Margath and won. It was his first victory since we bought the boardgame.
In this case 4 experience points for 1 experience counter,if we play 3-players variant it is also 4 ep. points for 1 level up. The Runebound is loooong game. But we like to play it slowly, we do not fight between Heros and we just enjoy the game.
Soon (in about 2-weeks)we will obtain 3 new expansion decks(2008) and I hope that we make some new videos about new cards. So keep in touch with us.
I was playing this earlier today, had to leave the game early because I had the worst possible character, that and everyone was slowly dying thank to the fac we were playing the second edition which freezes everyone!
Which character was so bad? I think that heros in the game are quite well ballanced. Don't be discouraged if you pull "weak" character. Given some luck ( good Items, Allies) and good strategy you can win playing every available hero.
I,ve just picked (randomly) Ispher ( from Island of Dread) - life=3 , stamina=4 and my opponents seem a lot stronger,. Despite that I,m going to fight to the last drop of blood in Ispher's veins :)
So it is a new Frozen Wastes' Hero. She is not so bad with her special ability of skipping melee phase. Strategy: Buy some bow, upgrade range combat value , keep on skipping melee and defend in magic. Or buy some good rune and attack in magic phase.
Magic-combat- heros are not so good in the early stage of the game , but with time they tend to gain advantage over others (mainly due to the powerfull rune Items).
W Runboundzie mapa wygląda nieciekawie, dlatego wybrałem Talisman.

Sometimes sh*t happens as they say.
Thats just coincidance, pure mathematics.
