People who sit watching Olga's vids for 10mins then declaring how much they hate them, or the foods all wrong or that they plain old don't like her. Do you not see the contradiction or irony in that?. Sad sad lonely people. If i see something on YT i dont like or agree with, i just dont watch it, crazy idea i know. Try it sometime. Go Olga! :)
You contaminated everything with raw chicken that causes salmonela and you touched your face you can get pinkeye. You didn't wash anything you used it's a good thing you were cooking those vegatables or whoever ate that would be very sick. This is why Canada won't have the zombie apocolypse or mutant flu, we wash everything in hot soapy water especially when in contact with raw meat.
This is just total crap. This is NOT Russian food, and she isn't qualified to teach anything. Typical YouTube misinformation. And before you write some angry response to me saying that I don't know what I'm talking about, I'm the executive chef at one of the largest restaurants in Russia.
@LeaCatstache - the video is still up and being watched by people, isn't it? There are comments on this thread that show people don't know any better. I would have no reason to care then.
plov is originally from Uzbekostan. but people from Soviet Union loved this dish.. it's very popular still today and russian or ukrainian families eat it very often. foreigners think that its russian food. on one tv show about Ukraine, german linkman sad that plov is ukrainians national dish ^^ but thats WRONG. anyway. every one LOVES plov. have a taste <3
Guys I love how u guys are hating on her when she's one of the most popular youtubers ever and she's got her own shirts AND shoes and this is just when she was seeing what she wanted to do!! She's really hilarious and colorful! Love you Olga!!!
It's NOT Russian in any case. Pilaf and similar dishes are common to Middle Eastern, Central and South Asian, East African, Latin American, and Caribbean cuisines. During the years of the Soviet Union, the dish spread throughout the other Soviet republics, becoming a favorite in such diverse places as Russia, Ukraine, and Georgia.
Mooshy Mommy! This is old school Olga Kay! I love it! Do some more cooking videos. I know you and Jess (and sometimes Joe) like to cook together. You guys should do a fun cooking show.
Thank you for the video Olga. My family is from Dobrinka and this dish brings back memories. Keep up the good work and don't let people discourage you.
I don't even get why she put chicken in it and called it a Plov... The real Plov is made of lamb. This is just a "rice and chicken and other stuff" meal...

@kristianf4lk ....wrong...in soviet russia you could BECOME the food...cannibalism existed in the ukraine in the 1930s famine and it was recorded during the siege of leningrad...it is very inappropriate of you to bring this up during a cooking show
This suck)
It's very bad to use the same knife to cut the vegetables after cutting meat. Always rinse both knife and cutting board after handling meat or it could make you sick.
this is not Plov, it can't called plov, with the spices she used- it's more looks like "biriani"-indian rice food.Plov never been tipical russian dish, russians picked it from Central Asia during Soviet Union times. You never cook Plov with ant meat diced like she did, it must be in big chunks of chicken or chunks of beef or lamb. Also, I've noticed that the cutting board slides quite a bit. @herrstix: yep, me too. I have the ingredients for a proper borscht and want something traditional to go with it, anyone got some recepies I can check out? I never prepared either borscht or this but a friend is visiting and I wan't to make a suprise dish.
Well... I'm 100% Russian but PLOV is not originally russian dish. Yes, it's extremely popular now in Russia, every ethnic russian at least once made plov. But it came from Central Asia. It is a fact and you cannot argue with that. But dish is awesome, we at home make it very often, спасибо Ольга :)
It seems like plov is like American/Mexican chili. There are many ways to make it, and most of them come out tasting good. I'm inspired by this video. Thanks Olga!
also, a norwegian dish. it doesn't look all that good, but trust me.
boil sheep meat (lots per pers)(soup-meat with bones and stuff) in a huge pot (10litres+) for about an hour, add cabagge (sliced in "boats")(the biggest you can find, two if there's room) and add salt and black pepper (whole pepper aswell as crushed. you taste when its enough, remember to refill water as it boils, it needs to cover it all). let it boil for another 1,5-2 hours, serve with boiled potatoes and carrots ^^,
btw, tip for anything you have rice for, put rasins, one cut-up onion and some spices (curry or tomato-paste depending on what sort of dish you're making) in the rice when you put the rice into the pot, best rice evah ^^,
also, the same what you did, but instead of rice you throw in more vegetables and add more soup, then you add some potatoes (skin off or whatever its called) and let it boil until potatoes are done. gulash or something, good ^^,
Originally Plov (or pilaf) is not a Russian dish. The word is borrowed from Turkish and the dish came to Europe through Turkey. The rice came to Russia much later than to any European country.
I wish people would stop saying thats not how its made, its a russian dish and she's from russia. She's making it how its made at home. Everyone makes it different depending on where they are from.
@smnfaw3 - She is Russian American, and doesn't know what she's doing on so many levels. Turmeric wasn't even available in Russia until the last couple of years, and even now only in Moscow and Saint Petersburg in specialty ethnic stores. There is only one store in all of St. Pete that you can get turmeric. Her methods for cooking everything are neither authentic, nor technically correct. First giant mistake is using boullion cubes. Also, you can't properly brown chicken when its crowded. Blah!
Actually, you may be right about how its made, but like I said, everyone makes it different. Also, she is a Russian, who moved to America. She was not born here with Russian roots. But yeah I guess you are right about the cooking, I mean, when did cooking become an exact science??
@smnfaw3 - I'm not talking about "exact science" here. The problem here is that she isn't qualified to teach anyone anything about cooking. She makes just about every mistake possible in presenting a nonauthentic version of something that isn't even Russian in the first place (Plov was adopted during the Soviet era from Uzbekistan). I wouldn't mind so much if she did a half decent job of making her version, but this is a housewife with an inflated ego - nothing more.
The hell she isn't qualified. who the hell are you to say who's qualified to teach. She prepared a dish that was probably really good. How the hell do you know if she is a housewife?????? Damn your ignorance makes me sick!!
V pervie slyshu chto PLOV is "russian dish". Gotovish ty ne ploho, tolko plovom eto nazvat' trudno. v poslednee vremya bludo gde est' ris i myaso privykli nazyvat' plovom. no ya nazvalby eto prosto ris s myasom. a nastoyashiy plov mojno poprobyvat' v Uzbekistane, Turkmenii, toest' v Cental Asia.
Я бы этот шедевр даже недопловом не назвал... Это и недочахохбили и недоплов одновременно.:)) Недочахплов!:))))) А если проще, то рисовая каша с курицей и овощами.
i'm russian and I love plov and my parents and grandma make it a lot. Even though I'm russian I don't really like borscht that much. jus though i'd say that.
i love this food im russian to and in russian your name is olya its very pretty name my brother has girlfriend named olga its a very beautiful name i wish i had it

boil sheep meat (lots per pers)(soup-meat with bones and stuff) in a huge pot (10litres+) for about an hour, add cabagge (sliced in "boats")(the biggest you can find, two if there's room) and add salt and black pepper (whole pepper aswell as crushed. you taste when its enough, remember to refill water as it boils, it needs to cover it all). let it boil for another 1,5-2 hours, serve with boiled potatoes and carrots ^^,

turmeric or whatever, I think its curry?
btw, tip for anything you have rice for, put rasins, one cut-up onion and some spices (curry or tomato-paste depending on what sort of dish you're making) in the rice when you put the rice into the pot, best rice evah ^^,
also, the same what you did, but instead of rice you throw in more vegetables and add more soup, then you add some potatoes (skin off or whatever its called) and let it boil until potatoes are done. gulash or something, good ^^,

Originally Plov (or pilaf) is not a Russian dish. The word is borrowed from Turkish and the dish came to Europe through Turkey. The rice came to Russia much later than to any European country.
Good video.

I don't know exactly how to cook the plov ( though I'm Russian=)) but it looks like that)

I wish people would stop saying thats not how its made, its a russian dish and she's from russia. She's making it how its made at home. Everyone makes it different depending on where they are from.

word.
cskamoskva 2 years ago
@smnfaw3 - She is Russian American, and doesn't know what she's doing on so many levels. Turmeric wasn't even available in Russia until the last couple of years, and even now only in Moscow and Saint Petersburg in specialty ethnic stores. There is only one store in all of St. Pete that you can get turmeric. Her methods for cooking everything are neither authentic, nor technically correct. First giant mistake is using boullion cubes. Also, you can't properly brown chicken when its crowded. Blah!
MrPlanx 2 years ago
Actually, you may be right about how its made, but like I said, everyone makes it different. Also, she is a Russian, who moved to America. She was not born here with Russian roots. But yeah I guess you are right about the cooking, I mean, when did cooking become an exact science??
smnfaw3 2 years ago 3
@smnfaw3 - I'm not talking about "exact science" here. The problem here is that she isn't qualified to teach anyone anything about cooking. She makes just about every mistake possible in presenting a nonauthentic version of something that isn't even Russian in the first place (Plov was adopted during the Soviet era from Uzbekistan). I wouldn't mind so much if she did a half decent job of making her version, but this is a housewife with an inflated ego - nothing more.
MrPlanx 2 years ago
The hell she isn't qualified. who the hell are you to say who's qualified to teach. She prepared a dish that was probably really good. How the hell do you know if she is a housewife?????? Damn your ignorance makes me sick!!

@starsfound - I was a professional chef probably before you were born. My ignorance? LOL How many Michelin stars do you have?

Недоплов. Курица с рисом... пост советский модерн. Сие блюдо такое же русское как яичница.
yTI0r 2 years ago 13
Я бы этот шедевр даже недопловом не назвал... Это и недочахохбили и недоплов одновременно.:)) Недочахплов!:))))) А если проще, то рисовая каша с курицей и овощами.
