  • the weirdness and surrealism reminds me of the movie "the american astronaut" anyone who likes this should check out that movie..

  • This video is sort of doctor who'ish with the skeleton astronauts aand all

  • See.... Them... LIVE. Saw them last weekend in Portland ME. Crowd was a mix of punks, hipsters, geeks, "average" folks, you name it. Fantastic performance, the whole crowd was in it. Great drinking music, too.

  • these guys played in my little town i love em they do some great pixies covers

  • awesome!!! i love you guys

  • I love O'deaths jangly picking style, it's really nice.

The way he says Baby reminds me of another song, but I can't for the life of me recall it.

  • New album from these guys, April 19th.

  • Greatest live show ever!

  • Can someone link me to the lyrics?

    I so want them!

  • love the part at 1:33 with all the heads

  • i saw them open up for les claypool and it was the most intense set i have ever seen

  • anyone have any of the lyrics? i cant seem to get a couple of the words. Great song none the less! love the music video!

  • @bocorvette type it into google and it shows right up

  • Cool song but I don't get the story line in the video. Can someone please explain? Thanx!!! =:)

  • Go see them live.. they are fucking amazing.. more energy in this group then I've seen in a LONG time!!!

  • i agree

  • @JVirago Congrats, you missed out on a good song.

  • I LOVE this video! It's so dark. The Banjo can be such a sad sounding instrument. Great band. Hope to see them live sometime. Please come to Maine! Can't you just imagine Tom Waits singing this?

  • Look out, he's got a Banjo!

    5/5

  • i would so do their drummer! saturno, i hope your seein this!

  • I saw them opening for World Inferno/Friendship Society. I love them!!

  • I love this song....After dling all of O'death I started learning some of it on banjo...I'm glad that bands like this use the banjo...

  • This was so phat at trowbridge.

    Loved it.

Should have headlined one of the nights

  • I saw them in a tent/bbq thing in Belfast. They played a full set and it was mind-blowing but I'm really jealous that you guys got to see Les Claypool on the same night. I don't believe for a second that he put on a bad show. Since I saw Ween last year, Les is the only act I really need to see before he quits.

  • I talked to the lead singer of o'death and expressed my appreciation for their music. I told him I use to play violin as a kid, from 4th to 8th grade, and one of my biggest regrets in life was quitting. i also told him i thought the banjo was unique and added another dimension to the sound (not to mention blended well with the violin) In hindisight, i should have complimented his vocals-they were very unique. He probabaly was like "Thanks a lot, jerk" after I complimented 2 members but not him

  • I agree with the idea that these guys may be the most energetic and creative opening act ever. Les was ausome too! I saw them june 23rd at the Knitting Factory in Boise, Idaho. I have never seen the opening act get the crowd quite as well riled up as they did. I could totally imagine that their main act will be even better....

  • these guys were awesome

  • Yes I Think I Liked O' Death Better Than Claypool..

  • :O BLASPHEMY!!!!! no offense to o'death... but claypool is God

  • I think they sound alot alot alike, just on banjo instead of bass. And yes, i agree that you are a blastphemer

  • i saw o'death last night (7-6-09) at nashville's "war memorial" they opened for les claypool. i enjoyed o'deaths performance WAY more than claypool. Claypool is way overrated and he has a huge ego on him. His performance was un-inspired and lacking effort - where as - o'death's was full of energy and creativity.. I even got to speak to the lead singer after the show (Les wouldn't ever come outside after a show)

    les is a douchebag.

  • no offense to the O'Death boys, I saw them with Les in Winnipeg and loved their show... But in Les's defense, I don't think O'Death has achieved the massive cult fame level he's at. Meeting fans a few at a time is cool for him, but put yourself in his shoes. A giant crowd wanting autographs all at once when you're pressed for time, can't do it for everyone, then you're branded a dick because you had to leave. Probably wants to avoid that whole hornet's nest....

  • glennard - o'death hasn't achieved the level he is at - well yeah they are not as well known as PRIMUS - so that comparison is kind of "off" no? and re: meeting fans - my brother stood next to a girl who he thought was cute - he got her number and talked to her the next day: she said claypool actually came out and talked to the fans / signed stuff / took pics with the fans at the Nashville show. I left so i could not confirm / deny this

  • agreeeeeeed!

  • Totally amazing

  • Ya, dude.. Best opening band.. They were all amazing.. I almost pissed myself, because I knew after this wicked band.. we still had Les.

  • saw these guys last night opening for les claypool, and they were the best opening band i've ever seen. you never know what an opening band is gonna be like, and these guys blew me away. i bought both their albums, got them signed by everyone, and i REALLY hope they come back to edmonton.

  • saw them yesterday!!! god i love them. best 10 bucks ive ever spent

  • Can I just say I saw these guys at The Green Man Festival in England last year. The only unknown band (to me) I have looked out for since. Bought the alblums too! Come back to UK soon I hope! Quality!

  • Damn

    BADASS song

  • These guys put on a great show. So much energy coming from the stage I had to buy another five drinks.

    Fantastic!

  • wow

Can't wait to see them at Camp Bestival

  • awesome for walking down the street XP

  • the hell's this?!?!? never heard of this, I was looking for Oh Death from o brother where art thou, but this is...okay...

  • does anyone have lyrics? I'm having a hard time picking out some of the words.

  • saw them last night at the electric factory in philly .. was kick ass ..

  • I was at the same show! These guys definitely should have been billed higher than Secret Chiefs 3... Me girlfriend and I had never heard O'Death before, and we each bought one of their CDs after their kickass set.

  • That show was amazing. I had mah own exact same pig mask as the claypool, if'n ya seen meh.

  • like people fucking care, your the same type of fag thats goes to shows with stupid shit on dying for attention.... yeah everyone look at me iam wearing a pig mask thats just like les iam cool.....fucking asshole, do me a favor and play in oncoming traffic......

  • are you saying les should play in traffic

  • les kicks ass and these guys do 2

  • ...Sometimes people just wear weird shit because they like to... It's not really a question of wanting attention. Sometimes it is, but not every time.

  • me too i liked em

  • Lol so did I, this was definitly one of my favorite songs of the night!

  • saw'em last night at House of Blues in Boston, fucking awesome, the drummer is a mad man

  • haha i was at that show too and yah he is. sit was some funny shit though

  • very good video

  • Well SDott516NY, not all of us had that 'cool' uncle that wanted to 'hug all the time'. He sure made you a well rounded person didn't he?

  • HA!!! i wish i could give that more than 1 thumbs up

  • How is this even remotely related to anything to do with emo kids? So all the old blues singers were actualy predecesors to emo?

  • THis is just amazing!

  • this music video should have had a million dollar budget, and win every award there is. the only thing i can compare this to is getting fucked up on stolen hydrocodone and throwing rocks at ghosts at 3AM in the graveyard, right when the sprinklers come on.

  • i must concur

  • @mercuryfulminate

lol I guess the codine has to be stolen for this story to be awesome

  • @mercuryfulminate best comment ever

  • @mercuryfulminate Holy lord, that was the best. I love you.

  • @mercuryfulminate It wouldn't be as good as it is now, with a million dollar budget. Sometimes less is more ;)

But you're right - they should win an award for this - it's amazing

  • @mercuryfulminate You deserve to get a huge rock shoved up your ass.

  • hella-awesome!

  • These cats have captured all the key phrases in life among the living. The slaving decayed scream in unison for relief from their inevitable burdon.

  • ok there it is: We all toil under the supremacy of the TAP AND WHISTLE grip others and mother nature have upon our hearts, and we toil along under that tyranny, with our final resting place the ultimate relief from the tyranny of life.

  • Ok here again, upon second listen, I get the Laughing Hyenas bigtime. I think that, if Tom Waits had produced a Laughing Hyenas record around the year 1988, this would sound a heck of a lot like the resulting product.

  • They seem to be on to something elusive here musically. I sense the genius of Tom Waits for combination of musical styles. I think any relevant critique of O'Death MUST involve the significant mention of Tom Waits. I look forward to hearing more from them.

  • I love them, great style, great voice, great music. I love the name O'Death too.

  • Saw these guys at the Greenman Festival in Brecon, really energized performance and unique sound, blew me away. Oh and very funny too!

  • I saw this band at the Roundhouse in London.

Their records sound pretty damned unique and special to me and they definitley deserve a lot more airplay than they're getting at the moment. I particularly enjoy thier slower ballards.

  • these guys were with murder by death (if you don't know MBD, i hate you) and i fell in love once i saw the rockin' banjo and fiddle. i'm glad i found them again. =)

  • love O`Death

  • reminds me of 16 horsepower

  • I saw this video on MTV... once. Ha. Luckily. Bought their album because of it.

  • FUCKING GREAT, 've got this album

  • They were with Murder By Death in Harrisonburg a couple weeks ago =D

  • Saw them last night in Columbia--Their stage presence is amazing!

  • just saw them live with murder by death.

    it was amazing

    great stage presence

  • i just saw them with murder by death as well and i think amazing is the only word for them

  • this is one of the strangest coolest music videos i have ever seen!

  • kinda sounds like les claypool.

    which is a good thing.

  • No clue what this video means--I don't "get it", but like a great song in a foreign language, I enjoyed it an awful lot anyway, and the song is just smashing!

  • Check out O´Death-Busted Old Church(acoustic) at Youtube its a fucking great version of the song, just love it!

  • Way to go Jonathan Phelps! You are so talented!

  • yet another wonderful piece of artwork by Jonathan Phelps. Well done!

  • nice job jonathan phelps!!!!
