  • you guys just inspired me and my brother to play this at a percussion concert later this year! Hopefully someone will record it, and maybe we'll upload some vids of our progress. Also, what type of mallets does this call for? Whatever you were using sounded great.

  • @devinb1690 The part doesn't call for any mallets in particular that I can remember. We just used some German sticks with cork cores and good soft felt for the first part, and either hard felt or flannel sticks for the rhythmic part at the end. Hope this helps, good luck!

  • ohh i love the excerpt sooo much, i love this recording too :D

  • dang those are some insane glisses

  • Eh. Listen to THAT!

  • It is so great that you posted this because I have been thinking about putting this on my recital this fall, but I wasn't sure where to get the music or if there even was music for just two timpani. Do you have this excerpt in sheet music?

  • Unfortunately, it's not possible to get only the excerpt, but you can rent the piece from Boosey & Hawkes, I believe.

  • Yeah, I saw it online there. Thanks for the reply! So, did you guys just pick an excerpt from the piece?

  • Yes, we just found a section that used mostly the two timpani parts.

  • Awesome. Thanks so much! It sounds really, really great. Congratulations!

  • very powerful.
