Back in the early 70s I worked as assistant to the lighting director for a traveling Godspell troop I as 17 and 18 at the time. Is a very nice video but I dot not know if "Flash Mob" is correct of this. The term usually denotes a performance that comes with no warning or having the area obviously prepared. This appears to be something that was done with a lot of equipment pre-staged etc. In any case Flash Mob or not it is a very nice performance and the Participants should be proud of it.
it seems so ironic that my school put this up the year before the revival happened:) thank you b.l. for letting me experience the old so i can apreciate the new that much more
@larkluster Yeah! Finally, kids my age (Early Teens) can be introduced to Godspell and know what it is. Before the revival, when I mentioned it, they'd go,"What's that?" Need to go see the revival! It's a awesome and adorable cast that replaces the original one beautifully.
Loved this! It captures the explosive joy of the show, the inclusive invitation to join a community that is devoted to this joy! Go Godspell the next generation!
Absolutely loved doing this. Love the overheard "this looks rehearsed." No, 85 people were told "go to Times Square and follow the person next to you." We rehearsed for three hours! Sore legs later, but a wonderful feeling.
BTW fellow flash mobbers, in one video you can hear someone say" they must have rehearsed" and also "they are paid performers!" And that is when we are all out there! Way to go! Thanks for the fun!!
Imagine being a bystander, what a great "New York" moment! I really liked when they took their jackets off and had red shirts on underneath. Does anyone know what the shirts said? The name of the show, probably, but I was wondering.
Thank you for our wonderful and patient choreographer. This was the most fun I have had in a o time. Loved the flash, loved th mob, love GODSPELL! Thank you!
This was a truly wonderful & moving performance. I have been a fan of GODSPELL for many years. I have seen several amateur performances & each one has its own spin. Would love to see it on Broadway.
It was truly a magical experience to take part in this today. I have wanted to dance in a flash mob for many years now and to do it on Broadway! Thank you Ken Davenport and everyone who made this happen (Kristen and our choreographer, dancers, etc.). I will always remember today!

So how did people not involved with the broadway production find out about this in time to perform in it?

The tee shirts said, Godspell. And, we got to keep them. I'm wearing mine now and I think it will be a favorite!

This was phenomenal! Brought tears to my eyes,,,seems to make more of a statement of what the world needs now than "Occupy Wall Street".
