  • i like to imagine that avigdor showed up behind her after she stopped singing and they went to America together and grew old together(:

  • Regine's Piece of sky is just amazing than this. but i love barbra

  • I get goosebumps every time I watch this. *.*

  • An amazing work of art

  • all signed..

  • I completely understand why Yentl and Avigdor didn't end up together, but I think they were so well suited to each other. They had such chemistry together, and I could really see them going the distance. Stupid Hadass!

  • The first time I heard this I thought the "why settle for just a piece of sky" note was the one everyone was talking about. I was like "wow that was impressive!" ...then came the real "papa watch me flyyyyyy" note and I was out of breath FOR her. Amazing!

  • Now THAT was a diva moment!

  • I just realized that Yentl and Muslim women today are not that far apart. Hmmm. Maybe Barbra is thinking......

  • My love for her voice, knows no bounds..simply awesome!

  • Thank you,Bobbie!

  • one of the greatest singers at all times

especlly at this clip u can fill the power of her voice

    make my body chill

    she is one of a kind ! ! !

  • 17 personas son un asco de gentusa.! JODER, esta canción No merece MANITOS MALAS. Barbra Streisand!! I LOVE YOU!

  • The Best. Simply put... the best!

  • This is phenominal! The best movie, this song gives me thrills every single time. I always end up holding my voice when she belts. Bravo and deepest bow from the Russian fans!

  • What is it with Barbra? She's always right. I always listen to her whenever I'm in doubt.

She's got the anwers. She's brought so much light in the darkness of my misfortunes. Thank you, Babs...from Mexico.

  • @victorbrack . You are right ... she always gets right to the problem and says it how it is an is right. Babs is very political, her political advice is sought from some of the highest in the land, she's been into environmental concerns since the 80's, very much for women's health and rights, a great philanthropist ... what am I saying ... she should be the President.

  • she got robed at the oscars

  • Love it , love it , love it. Thrilling... her voice just soars and gives me goose pimples.

  • It doesn't get better than this......

  • All women need to know we can dream also..

Women need to know we are cared about our Creator also..

We are to be used to help Him / Her ( both because we are made in His image )

    love Philillie

  • Poor Yentl looks like he's going to go through menopause any second.

  • Classic moment in cinematic history. Thank you Ms. Streisand.

  • I did a video called "California At Last" and I simply had to cover this song and add it at the end of my video as a climax ending. This is an amazing song and Barbra will always be a living legend with a phenomenal career and a voice from the heavens.

  • mon papa je t'aime

  • Sheer magic!

    Beautiful movie!

Barbra is the most gifted singer and acrtess in history.

Her voice is the gift of God!

  • There are currently 17 people in this youtube community with severe brain damage. >:/

  • HOW CAN PEOPLE DISLIKE THIS ! ! ! HOW ! ! ! It is not possible

    I am 19 years old and i love this song ! ! !

  • i was actually an extra in this film and I was on the boat in this clip. It was a fantastic experience, I was 17 years old and on a ferry in the middle of the Irish Sea on the old Manxman ferry. My claim to fame is that a bit of my forehead is shown in one of the final clips. I love this song and it was fantastic to be a part of this film and to speak to the legend Barbra Streisand.

  • @gillhalliwell WOW!!! What an incredible experience for you!! Please reply and tell me more if you would! As you can see from my Barbra Streisand videos, I am a HUGE fan :) I would like to email or chat more about your experience, and share my personal "Streisand experience" with you as well. I can't bellieve it; what a wonderful experience and honour this would have been for you... hopefully you will reply to me :) Thanks! Will from Canada

  • @gillhalliwell wow that is seriously amazing...I am so so jealous :( I would give the world to meet her :)

what did you say to her/she say to you?!!! xx

  • @gillhalliwell i assume the ending must have been filmed from a helipcopter? i love the ending, so powerful

  • @gillhalliwell I'm soo jeleaus...

  • @gillhalliwell How brilliant! It must have been a fantastic experience....

  • I wonder if she held that note for that long.. or dis they stretch it...?

  • @less01 That note completely and entirely belongs to the magical vocal cords of the great Streisand. Watch her sing Handel's "We'll Make Our Garden Grow." She also holds the world record for the longest belt. Her lungs and breath support are out of this world.

  • @less01 ,

No,seriously, that is her voice holding that note. There were no gimmicks!

  • @popazz1 it is truly amazing

  • @less01 ,

    You're telling me! Truly amazing!

  • what a fantastic ending to a movie!

  • Papa watch me fly !! it's just beautiful !!!

  • "Papa,watch me fly"!

I always recall my dad telling me,a couple of months after mum died that it was my fault she'd died, that I was useless & would never amount to anything! Well, guess what dad? I'm flying! Bab's music just helps me fly that bit higher!

  • I bet those 17 people have never flown.

  • I am so in love with this women. I am not sure that there is anyone that can match her. This song is so powerful and true to heart. Her songs are so romantic and uplifting.

  • I personally prefer Michael Crawford's version, but wow. Sometimes I forget how amazing her voice truly is. I can't wait to see this film! : )

  • @writerspen010 idiot

  • @writerspen010 idiot

  • Es una de las canciones más hermosas de Brbra Streissand. Yentl fue maravillosa.

  • this song BS la dedico a Mi hija Karla...

  • Nobody else even comes close, THE greatest!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, that 3:31 note she hit... just amazing! I'm 14 years old and I think listening to this is even better to listen to that shit they call music today! Yentl is a GREAT film! Let's not forget that she directed it, produced it, played the lead role in it and sung the songs in it also! Barbra surely is an OUTSTANDING singer and American! God Bless!

  • Yeah.......I cried.

  • Yentl is my favorite movie of all time and this song just summarizes my life, my thoughts.

  • A truly inspirational song, that makes you believe anything is possible!

  • This was one of my mom's favourite songs and she always said turn it up when my dad was playing it. Had this played at her funeral june 2010 and it still brings me to tears now when i listen to it.

  • @cute12able My condolences...May she rest in peace. I lost my younger sister to cancer last November. Barbra was her favorite singer, especially the song "Don't Rain on My Parade."

  • @billygoyboyIII

My condolences for your sister. Don't rain on my parade is also one of my favourite song.

  • @1302lily You're very kind...Thank You.

  • This is truly an incredible song, and the film is amazing. It seems to open up so many questions people have about life and everything it involves. Love you Barbra!!!

  • She makes me feel like having a big nose is awesome. Thanks, Babs :)

  • Barbara sei sempre la solita trasformi una sola canzone in un capolavoro, sei unica, grande, magnifica.Resta così abbiamo bisogno di e e della tua unica voce,ti voglio bene!!!

  • what an end note OMG!!!

  • She is seriously the magic in my life. The reason I want to sing, the whole inspiration, energy, love, and everything I work for. This song amazes me. ♥

Barbra, you are the best on this planet.♥

And if every teen my age agreed with me, this world would be a better place.

  • This was 27 years ago and still people are watching this vid...WOW

  • Well, I hate to bring it up, but for me, the same question pretty much always comes up without an answer. Mandy Patinkin--maybe one of the only broadway singers to rival her--is the costar of this film. In a speaking role. That's right, he doesn't sing. Very confusing.

  • @BenjaCarson well, idena menzel doesnt sing in enchanted either...maybe they're there in supporting roles, to, well, support

  • Barbra's voice is God's gift to her and she surely blessed us with it. All in one breathe her final is incredible.

  • One of the greatest musical moments in the history of film!

  • The last note is impressive, but this is during Bab's period where everything she did was overproduced. And I agree, this scene was almost identical to Don't Rain on my Parade (only Funny Girl was better directed).

  • Papa can you see me??? Memories that tug at my sleeve.......

  • if it weren't for the brilliant director william wyler, she'd have never thought of creating this scene. tell me you don't think "don't rain on my parade" when you watch this. be honest. and so it goes, one person imitates someone who went before her/him

  • @tearmann Yes.. It does remind me of the " Don't Rain on my Parade" it's exactly what I thought too.. ...But the brilliant director Wyler is not singing one single note in this song! So the visuals are the weakest aspect of this...she should have asked me or you what we thought would be best! LOL

  • @karmakomodia hello my friend - yes, babs should have asked you (or me). wyler certainly did a better job directing the helicopter sweeping away at the end of the scene, and his shot was longer (time-wise). But I must say I'm happy that W. Wyler didn't sing in Funny Girl. lol Must add that the earlier train sequence of the uninterupted camear shot in Don't Rain on My Parade is filmmaking brilliance. He catches her face from a helicopter on a long train ride - genius!

  • @tearmann I agree.. That was GENUIS cinematography.. and no CGI.!!

  • Yentl is still the film that I have seen at the cinema more than any other. Close Encounters of the Third Kind - three times. The Matrix - three times. Avatar - three times. Yentl - five times, all in the first two weeks of release! What a monumental pity it is for those who have never seen this great actress and singer.

  • I was first introduced to the music of Barbra some 30 years ago, when I went to see "A Star is Born" with a girlfriend at the time. Sadly that lady is no longer with us. The song of Streisand's voice bring goose bumps to the back of my neck, and at times tears to my eyes. I think Yentl was one of Barbra's best work, the music is spine chilling. I first saw it on the big screen many years ago, and bought the video soon after. It sits alongside the rest of my Streisand collection.

  • The woman is sheer genius! She can convey in one note what most 'singers' fail to do in a whole song! One of her earlier albums is called "Barbra Streisand and Other Musical Instruments" That sums it up for me.She IS a musical instrument,& I thank god each time I listen to her music.Almost 68 years of age & she's STILL with us & bringing us her supremely divine gift.

Sidebar: That scene was filmed on the choppy waters of The Irish Sea,just off Liverpool,UK!

  • I love her expression when she sings: "Papa, watch me flyyyyy"...so cute...reminds me of "What's up doc?".

  • She is the absolute best female singer, ever!

  • she is an angel from heaven

  • It's so amazing how we can hear music once and then our lives are touched forever :) Naturally, Barbra Streisand's music would touch our lives.

Don't ever settle for a piece of sky! :)

  • Perfection.

  • "Nothing's impossible..."

  • I LOVE BARBRA! This song is phenomenal! Truly amazing.

  • I fully share the same feeling than the user daisyhillplayschool. The first time that I watch the movie YENTL was when I was 9 years and since then it has always been my reference and the beacon of my life. This song creates masters and encourages people to search beyond the established things. This song makes it re-arise the energy of your interior. God bless Barbra Streisand. Thanks!

  • 'the more I learn, the less I know'. How profound is that. I love this song and thanks for posting this amazing clip, especially as it was filmed in the Irish Sea having departing from Liverpool! OH yes, Babs has been here .... she said so at her Manchester concert a few years ago. Just as well I didn't know at the time, as my head would have exploded with excitement if I'd seen her! Can't help it. I just luuurrrvvvve, Barbra x

  • How did she not win an Oscar for Yentl? This performance alone should have won her Best Actress. She wasn't even nominated for this performance. This is one of the biggest Oscar snubs in history.

  • That last note is just...so....looooooong :)

  • What a beautiful woman and what a voice! The Best!

  • I think this is the best ending of a movie that I have ever seen!! Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!! This is a strong message for women. Thank you barbra and thank you burdlow for sharing.

  • 16 douchebags have "Disliked" this song.

  • still searchin the piece

  • i love someone who dosnt love me . whish there was a god

  • wow! I really dont have idea about Barbara Streisand when she's still young.. I donat have any idea how GREAT she was and until now she continues to impress people with a WOW FACTOR!! Superb voice! A true Vocal Prowess!!

  • A woman that touched my heart throughout her amazing career. Her voice is unique, the female voice of the 20th century.

  • This is my favoutie part. I love it!

  • One of the most inspiring songs I have ever heard, I saw the movie when I was about 16, and this song, and Barbra's performance, moved me to tears. It made me look at my life in a whole new way, and helped make me who I am today. Huge thanks for posting burdlow..... xx

  • 16 people must have never seen a piece of sky :(

  • best part 0:00- 4:07

  • The best ever musical ending of all time in a movie.

  • I'm sitting here watching this and I am in tears, goosebumps running up and down my spine. This is hands down the best musical performance in movie history. Barbra is simply unmatchable when it comes to her acting, its like this song became a part of her, and thats what makes this performance one for the ages. I am 22 years old and the music out today, with a few exceptions is pretty much crap compared to this kind of music, NO new artist today could EVER match Babs talent. EVER.

  • Nice very sweet voice. Just share this one...piece of sky - Regine Velasquez

  • PAPAAAA WATCH MEEEE FLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

  • @Kyashii haha that was a 19 second high D5 note .. she has 6 lungs, haha

  • We all love our incredible, magical Barbra!

  • Strei has made my life so much better......as Gay man I thank her......thankd for the Peace BARBRA!!!

  • Why cannot there be more songs like this? This song is a neatly packaged bundle of loving energy, well crafted. Why cannot there be more, why does one grand inspiration have deaden the search for more, more is theme of the song; why let one song become the cage; if I could compose great songs, I would in overdrive produce neat packages of soulful energy, well crafted. Every song can be refined further, made smoother and richer. Maybe, I can learn from the best to produce the best, my dream.

  • @osheaad Because it seems that the only songs that people want to hear are the ones about sex, infidelity and sadness.

Sad can be good in a song, but songs that make you feel good about yourself are few and far between!!

If you ever become a composer, keep your sights high!! The trash that comes out now is just that, TRASH!!! You can make better and wiser songs than most composers do now!! Go for it!!!

  • Love Babs!

  • La plus grande performance vocale de tout les temps ! du pur Streisand ! film magnifique et triste ! Streisand est sans conteste la plus grande chanteuse/actrice qui existe ! jamais inégalée et unique !

  • Unbelievable and outstanding!!!

  • @niceme54 Strei can not be beat......no matter who.....Strei does not even have to try to hold a note,,,, it just happens...

  • I often say "For every successful performer there are 10,000 just like them who haven't had the same luck or opportunity" When it comes to Ms Steisand, I feel she is unique. Every time I hear this song I am inspired to achieve more and be more. She really is the only person like this, her passion combined with her drive and talent make her a true star. Hurrah!

  • Barbra is the most amazing woman alive. This song is so completely beyond perfection. Just like the woman singing it. She is incredible

  • The best singer in the world.

    Thank you god for Barbra!!!

  • Someone messed with the audio on this version. They played with the 'pitch' ... it's off. It's an amazing song and performance, you should listen to the CD or rent the movie... again, this upload is corrupted and doesn't do it justice.

  • Just made this my profile song on Facebook. Thank you Barbra!

  • the song " a piece of sky" must hear together with "papa can you hear me" the best to songs ever.........totaly nice.....nothing os better then them ;) enjoy

  • Everytime I hear this song I cry tears of joy =)

  • She is absolutely wonderful, astounding, she is my big inspiration as a singer performer, i can totally relate to her in every way and this is a very special song, beautiful!!!!!

  • i loved this song............

  • THIS ONE SONG HAS HAD MORE IMPACT ON MY LIFE THAT ALL THE SONGS IN THE WORLD. BARBRA YOU SEE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY TROUBLED LIFE I HEARD YOUR WORDS THAT I HAD THE "RIGHT" TO LOOK OUT OF THE WINDOW AND TO SEE THE WHOLE SKY. MY LIFE HAS NEVER BEEN THE SAME.ONCE YOU WONDERED IF YOUR SONG MADE A DIFFERENCE IN PEOPLES LIVES BELIEVE ME THEY DO. YOU OPENED A DOOR THAT I COULDN'T OPEN, I GO OUT, SPEAK UP, LEARNED I CAN HAVE MY OWN OPINION. I CAN FLY JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE. PERFECT SONG! GOD BLESS

  • @daisyhillplayschool I so know what you mean... with tears I have to tell you this song had the same effect upon me!

  • @daisyhillplayschool---your tribute brought me to tears. I pray that God will show you many, many opened doors! Have a happy and blessed life!

  • @daisyhillplayschool She gave that amazing gift to me too she is the light at the end of a dark tunnel ;)

  • @daisyhillplayschool Dear Daisy, What is wrong with you are you really old or just plain short sited. How could you not know the offence to polite society that your comment causes, on account of you mis-using caps lock. . I suppose that you have absloutely no idea what that is. Ask your doctor. Cheers. from, del-boy.
  • @YesYesYoureRight Dear YesYesYoure Right. Daisy's caps did not offend me whatsoever. I suppose that is due to the fact that the content of her " ALL CAPS" comment was far more gracious and full of gratitude than your condescending insulting juvenile retort. . What difference does it make? Polite society doesn't care if you type in all caps.. Daisy was uplitfing and you just lifted your leg to pee. Time to see the VET.. famer in the del-boy! Stay away from the sheep!

  • @karmakomodia

    Dear whoever you are karmen,

    It wasn't addressed to you.

    .

You don't care about etiquette, so, that you aren't bothered by that other dummby's faux-pas, means that you are the same as she.

    .

    There endeth the lesson.

    Cheers.

    from,

    del-boy.

  • @YesYesYoureRight and now that you have taken the time to address my comment it is now addressed to me. The lesson is just beginning.. As far as me being the same as SHE. WRONG! I am worse. I care enough about etiquette to tell a blow hard who thinks he has the right to insult someone from behind a computer just to be a jackass and stroke his fledging ego about something as innocuous as CAPS to shut UP.!!!. NO ONE iN POLITE SOCIETY CARES ABOUT YOUR POMPOUS ASS OPINION.Duplicitious jerk!

  • @YesYesYoureRight Using your own limp wristed attempts to insult me, May I interject that Daisy's comment was not addressed to you at all, however you could not restrain yourself from insulting a complete stranger and her comment. The debate ,using your pathetic' rules' has been won. Checkmate. I win. You are not polite whatsoever. Not in any society. CAPS NAZI! That's what you are! Haha!

  • @karmakomodia

    Dear karmen,

Thanks for your not using caps lock.

    .

    Cheers.

    from,

    del-boy.

  • @YesYesYoureRight WHY DEL-BOY THANK YOU FOR SUCH A GRACIOUS RESPONSE TO MY SMART ASSSERY. YOU ARE VERY WELCOME. CHEERS OLD CHAP. YOUR FAVORITE SMART ASS WITH FROM THE ANTI CAPS POLITE SOCIETY SORORITY. KARMAKOMODIA aka THE LESSER KNOWN GODDESS OF AMUSEMENT AND HAPPINESS. YOU OBVIOUSLY DO NOT KNOW YOUR MYTHOLOGY~ just saying.

    hugs and kisses lovey,

    the Goddess

  • @daisyhillplayschool Your words brought tears to my eyes... so true to my life I woke up one day and said to myself "I CAN!!" instead of "I CAN'T"..... If others can why not I? ....NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE! DREAMS COME TRUE!!!

  • @daisyhillplayschool ...Like Butta

  • @3021AZTW Yes. Like a big stick a butta.

  • I was in this film (although I ended up on the cutting room floor) when she held that last note it was phenominal!!!!!!!!

  • @santhegran2000 I thought she was miming to the studio recording in the film shoot?

  • Tops

  • THE BEST OF THE BEST. NO MORE IT CAN BE SAID. LOVE YOU BARBRA:) MICHAEL, POLAND :*

  • The last few seconds of this song is touching. I can feel the sheer joy just flowing out of her saying, "I am loved, and you may be gone but just watch me fly. Be proud of me ." Barbra grew up without a dad, so I think she'd singing this from the heart. Wow those eyes at 3:28.

  • ommfg that last note is absolutely amazing<333 once again Babs, you've stolen all our hearts<3

  • I watched this movie just a couple of months ago for the first time. I loved it the whole way through, but at the end of this song, I literally fell out of my chair and just cried. I don't know when I've heard anything so incredible.

  • She holds that note from 3:33 to 3:51. Amazing. Thank you Babs for the great music.

  • Yentl is just not recognised for movie genius. the score is simply a marvel

  • I would love to hear Lea Michele sing this. Barbra is a unreachable genius.

  • Brings Tears.......

  • Stunning lady with a voice from heaven

  • She gives me goose bumps!!! Barbra is the best!!!

  • 3:29 my fav part of teh song

  • Whenever I'm on a boat of any kind I sing I try to recreate those last few notes. People think I'm crazy. This is simply breathtaking.

  • I could listen to this all day. :)

  • From the 1983 movie Yentl which starred Barbara Streisand. Such a lovely movie!

  • Does anyone know if that last note was all her or was it stretched in post production?
