The sad reality is civillians get caught up in the fray during combat. I witnessed it first hand during my three tours in Iraq as a 19K or M1A2 abrams commander. It's sad and tragic and really messes with your humanity. So the insurgency used civillians as human targets alot because they knew we wouldn't engage houses or compounds were a large number of civilians were based due to fear of massive public backlash and the insurgency using it as another form of propoganda.

NATO airstrike kills 14 civilians, I guarantee you at least one was a tango. If you wanna hang with a tango you can die with a tango.
A hell of a lot more innocent civilians have been killed on purpose by suicide bombers or IED's at mosques, market places, and town squares than by accident by NATO or U.S. forces.
If it means 1 more American soldier comes home to his family, then I'm all for the occasional accident.
