Myst: Achenar Ending

At the end this isn't a very bad final, Haven is a beautiful place, i love the animals of this age, and in Myst IV we know that Atrus often visit the ages of Sirrus and Achenar.

Did anyone notice all the stories have holes. Atrus says the brothers were working together but in their endings they show no intrest in saving each other

@rantsandrandom If you listen to the message that Sirrus left Achenar back in Channelwood, you'll see that they were working together, at least temporarily. IMO, the only reason they teamed up with each other was because they both thought it was necessary if they wanted to get Atrus out of the way. Now that he's gone, there's no more reason for them to help each other. Plus, it seems that neither one has a very high opinion of the other.

@rantsandrandom Well, the logic here is that both Sirrus and Achenar WERE working together, but since they got trapped, only one of them could be saved (both of them want to be released), hence the opposing brother being enemy number one.

Turn on the Marker Switches for the cabin and tree elevator, than approach the map in the library and rotate the tower to point at the tree. Go up to the tower and up the key ladder, you'll find the combination. Go to the cabin and enter the combination to find a matchbox. Take a match from it, light it, and use it on the pilot light. Rotate the wheel on your right several times, check to make sure the tree has risen, then shut off the gas, run up to the tree, and get in at the right time.

To rotate the tower, go to the library, approach the map of Myst Island, and hold down the mouse on the circular tower behind the library. Wait for the line to rotate around until it rest on the tree elevator and turns red, then release the mouse.

@SHYSHILLY You need to hold down the circle on the map until the line turns red. If you see nothing on the map, it is probably because you haven't turned the marker switches to the on position. You cann't expect the line to turn red unless if you see something on the map besides the library and everything else that shows up before you turn on any of the marker switches.

Still just as creepy as it was the first time I played it. When you think about it though a lot of what happens to Atrus and the boys has to do with Gehn. You get the feeling that it was all set in motion a long time ago. And Achenar isn't such a bad guy. He did end up saving Yeesha after all.

2. Go directly to the fireplace in the library

3. Enter pattern 158

4. Take a page

5. Put it in its appropriate book

6. ???

7. Profit!

Myst is full of people you should never let out of books. Incidentally, for this reason I never really thought Saveedro was as impressive as people like Gehn and Achenar were far more menacing.

Agreed! Gehn and the two brothers have histories going way back, and that tangible backstory makes them genuinely menacing. Even in Myst, if you look, you can see elements of how Gehn affected the way Atrus's life worked out (especially in Atrus's final speech). Savreedo, on the other hand, seemed like he was created just to present enough conflict to make a story for the game.

I don't know if he's "insane", strictly. He and Sirrus are both cruel. They know exactly what they're doing. It's just that Sirrus is better at hiding his bad intentions, while Achenar "can't channel his emotions properly".

theres a bit of a discrepancy between this and myst 4... in the original game, the trap books put the player in a sort of void, but in myst 4 you see that the brothers were both trapped on there own worlds... is this just a mistake by cyan lol?
