  • Dr House Rules.

  • ???-

  • A great, under-rated song!

  • YES I DOES GET SLIPPERY WHEN ITS WET!

  • i love this theme! i listen it before any party or any night out.

  • oooooooooh come on....... from the 1st second it's obvious that this is not lionel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lionel sang this one but Clyde did an excellent job

  • Goddammit, thumbs up if you liked this song BEFORE WATCHING HOUSE!

  • LORD AND I DON'T KNOW WHY I THOUGHT L. RICHIE WAS SINGING THIS SONG AND NOT THE LEADER.

  • @MADCITRUS1 I did too,this guy sung Brickhouse too.

  • yeah....this is some funk...loved this song.

.....if you ain't takin' care of bizness...this you must expect...Lawd it gets slippery when it's wet....

  • Is this an 80's remake of the 1975 hit?

  • yes oh yes...

  • HOT!

  • Doug Datwyler on guitar at 111

  • The song is from 1975 but this performance is in 1993. Wow, I never noticed it before but Walter Orange looks a little like Miles Davis.

  • KICKEN !!

  • What concert is this from?

  • Female brass section.......holy smokes!!!

  • dancing to the rhythm of flame cane with the step of: why you fired Chase?

  • Glad HOUSE took me here

  • I saw them live in London England 1977. At the Paladium The rock the house.

  • Oh sorry,,, I think I misread the "HOUSE" post LOL my baad lol

  • PS dis aint house,,,, this is pure, unadulterated FUNK at its finest!!!! House wasnt even around!

  • These songs were written back when Lionel was still oozin the FUNK!!! lol These brothers had the funk back in the day!!!!

  • This performance looks like it's from the '80s or '90s.

  • the actual song is an oldie but goodie, this video was made in 1993 long after Lionel had left.......

  • NAW THE COMMADORES WERE GOOD WITH AND WITHOUT LIONEL.

  • I though Lionel sang this song

  • @caiogalo10 he did..

  • the 1970,s had the best music, of all kinds.

  • House is god!

  • Dancin girl kinda looks like Lisa Bonet, a little. . .

  • awesome!! i was watchin House when i heard the song, i looked it up and found this video!!!!!

  • HOUSE MD THANK YOU!!!!!

  • White girls love the Commodores too! They are hot!

  • @Cossettar sure, and so do the pink, the orange, the grey, the yellow, the green, the thin and the fat, the tall and the small, the clever and the thumb girls....

  • FONKY!

  • This appears to be an '80s remake of their '70s recording... by the way: Are those chicks really playing, or is this a Robert Palmer kinda' thing?

  • Lionel Richie originally sang the lead in this song. But this live performance was after he left the group. Walter Orange does a very good job. This sounds and looks great.

  • @MrMarla123 To me, Walter was the better lead on uptempo tunes. Out of all of the guys in the group, Walter was the only music major coming out of college. Course, Lionel still had his moments on the mike - the love tunes!!!!

  • @woodie62

Can't agree. I think Lionel's version was much better. I love all the songs Lionel lead best. Of course, I love the other guys too.

  • @MrMarla123 Yes, Lionel's version was better. He kind of crooned a little halfway into it when they originally recorded it. I also liked Lionel's vocals on most of the "Hot On The Tracks" recording, . . 'High On Sunshine', 'Fancy Dancer', and of course 'Just To Be Close to You'!

  • yo check out walter orange doing his thing..

  • oh yeah!

  • omg i love this song :)

  • house

  • Who is the model in this video. She is fine as hell

  • @xman0767 She used to work at Solid Gold in Minneapolis. The last time I saw her there was back in 1993.

    Her stage name was "Mia".

  • Hey this must've been how I was born!!!! Hey I like this song!!!!!

  • That's how we move in Zumba!!!! Lol!!!!

  • ow..ow.owwwwwwwwww...loven thiz gem..

  • МАКНЕРРИан МОЙ ВРАГ!

  • @elanticristoxd I've never heard this song before, but once I saw it on House I went looking for it :D

  • this is after lionel

  • I don't know if it's widely known. But Walter Orange is the original lead singer on this particular Commodores smash. And no disrespect intended not Lionel Richie as a lot of fans, non fans might think., there's only one other original member William King on lead guitar in the band. I like the dancer., Like it or not. Showgirl's have been around since the start of "Showbusiness." L.O.L., Thanks.

  • @amory0115 No, I disagree! It was Lionel on this tune. But he and Walter had similar voicings depending on the pitch. Walter's was higher. On some tunes when they were live, he reached into Minnie-type registries. Whenever Lionel tried what Walter was doing here, you could hear the strain in his voice. But he still had soul, anyway. This was my fav group as a teen-ager!

  • This is another bad ass song. That came out around 1974 when I was employed @ the old Philadelphia Naval shipyard. And I was recently reminded by a post I saw by Zachgreen4. Is that "Back In The Day" before the record came out. Me and all men generally would say "Built Like A Brick Shit House". In talking about a gorgeous/voluptous well built female. No offence ladies, l.o.l.for the memories.

  • Either that camera has terrible fps or I love how they made this video!

  • Way too funky!!!!!!!

  • Fuck the fact that this song is old...it rocks balls and so does House-God of all Gods )))

  • HOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUSSSSSEEEE MD

    :D

  • That was the time when songs contained great exciting arrangement, riffs harmonies end melodies.... Love the band

I'm actually making that kind of music, or at least using many of the 1970' s elements.

    Attila

  • perfect song guys!!!! i fucking love

  • taking care of the grooves brudah!

  • The Pride of Tuskegee Alabama!!! Love this! Thanks!

  • Thai women are some of the most beautiful females on the planet !! And the song is a classic.

  • groovy bass

  • Epic joint! Somebody stole my Commodores CD at work, and I told em "Whoever had it I hope you wind up with an STD!"

  • thanks for the grooves, obstacle1; you've got nice taste

  • The dancer in the video is Thai.

She used to work at Solid Gold in Minneapolis.

  • thanks bro !!!

    bless you.

  • @vettemuziekjes hey man...this song is too old and i think this live is in1994

  • This song came out in the 70's, the video is more current.

  • Ohh... sorry, u right!))))

  • 1975

  • i met lionel in t louis many years ago when i was visitng hom

  • Walter orange,William King, tamam da lionel Ritchie ,Thomas mclearry ve Milan williams'ı göremedim gibi...ama danscı kız super bi şi

  • what kind of music is this??? sounds good!!!

  • funky!

  • I always wondered why the Commodores replaced lionel Ritchie with a another light skinned guy! and on top of that! he's not even a Brother, what's up with that ? that's why ,can you say! where are they NOW?>>

  • tedkay----------the reunion that might have been probably ended w/Milan Williams death..

this was (like alot of '70s group) a great band..all the members wrote.

they graduated from opening for the JACKSON FIVE to SUPERSTARS !!

For the last half of the 1970s and early part of the 1980s there were few bands larger..

there live shows were on par with the BEST OF THEIR ERA!!

where are they now u ask ??

RECOGNIZED AS 1 of the BEST GROUPS EVER w/their hits STILL BEING PLAYED/SAMPLED !!

  • Refused to play with his boys when they traveled to South Africa in 1989. Milan was one of a kind, I felt the same way after his death regarding the reunion.

  • im confused at your comment

  • @tedkay The lightskinned guy's name is J.D. Nicholas. He's from Great Brittain...

  • every time i hear the beginning of the song, all i can see is house playing air guitar on his cane with flames on it

hahahah i'm listening to this song because of him

  • owesome!

  • Bon Jovi Stole the this tittle.this is Commodores action not his.

  • every time i hear the beginning of the song, all i can see is house playing air guitar on his cane with flames on it

  • Does anybody know the guitar tabs of this song?!?

I really need them!! Please help!

  • I heard it on House, very funny scene!!

  • HEll yea i was laughing my ass off with the stick guitar haha

  • That's funky!

  • Does anyone have the gp tab for this song?

  • I love this soong!!

  • They were funky as all get out when they 1st hit the charts. Ya'll forgot that, didn't cha? LOL.

  • When they reform for the tour make sure lionel keeps them Paul Mcartney moments to a minimum and ya'll funk like the Commodores do funk. Funk it up Lionel keep 3 times a Lady ,Penny Dancer etc. for your own concerts

  • Best music video ever. Period. Write it down, write it down!

  • love this. We can hear it on House M.D 3x24

  • OMG I love that clip. Cracks me up how he turns around then goes "Listen Well" in a really dejected voice. And how Foreman and Cameron just stand there.

  • I always find the most awesome songs trough house M.D.

    Great song

  • tottaly agree with u... i watched every episode to this day and every now and then i hear a song like this that im just hits the spot for me :D

  • People tend to forget or not know that the Commodores got their start with some seriously FUNKY jams. Like this.

  • well it looks like even back in these days, they still had video hoes, she just has on way more clothes than the ones today, great song though.

  • I'd prefer the album cover myself. The eye-candy is not necessary.

  • I remember this song when I was a teenie,i like to dance with this tune.

  • My last name is commodore,The commodores were my dads distant cousins. Its preety cool to be me some times.

  • 'Play that funky music' has the same structure

and the singing sounds pretty much like the same

  • its does sound very similiar!

  • except "slippery when wet" was released before "play that funky music". the commodores' "caught in the act" album (on which this song appeared) came out in february 1975. wild cherry's self-titled debut containing "play that funky music" was released in early 1976. more interestingly, that same wild cherry album featured a cover of "i feel sanctified", which was originally a hit for the commodores.

  • Wild Cherry simply borrowed the riffs and overall chord structure that were used in "Slippery When Wet" for "Play That Funky Music", which explains the similarity. Covering "I Feel Sanctified" on the same LP was, I believe, a respectable nod to the Commodores.

  • Wow, I thought it sounded VERY similar...interesting, thanks!

  • uh...google....

  • does anybody know where i can find a guitar tablature for this song?

  • I've looked on Google and Ultimate-Guitar and haven't found anything. But since it was on that House episode, I think some people may start listening to it more and then tab it.

  • thats why im listening to it i even turned on the commentary to find out which song it was

  • In an interview, Lionel Richie stated that Thomas McClary, the guitarist wrote this song and he played the riff as if he was playing a ukelele, squeezing his strings and playing a scratch sound in between. He said that when they recorded it, it was the funkiest riff that anyone had ever heard. Then at the end, Richie doubled the guitar line on his Tenor Sax at the top of the register. Outstanding!

  • thank you for the upload, excellent song!

  • I knew I had heard this song somewhere. House was air-guitaring this song in the season 3 finale.

  • Man i use to love the commodores ,this track was slammin,I was nuts about the "caught in the act" album real funky.

  • thanks for posting, my fave commodores song

  • no te pega nada, q lo sepas xD
