The first time I heard this song was when they played the season 7 finale of Magnum PI back in the Fall of 1987. Has been one of my favorite John Denver songs since.
I remember John from the Deaf Camp Picnic in Aspen in about 1975 or 76...he was a huge star and yet he sang for nothing on the back of an old flatbed truck in the middle of a sunny meadow to support a summer camp for hard-of-hearing kids. And when he sang, you could just feel how deeply he meant every word. I can't tell you how often some line from one of his songs drifts into my head, lifts me up a little, helps me keep going...maybe this song, most of all!
