  • Is this camera digital or does it require a DV tape?

  • @James10397 it uses a tape! There is a memory card but it is for still images only.

  • Comment removed

  • @fdesouchecom You removed you comment because you know how wrong it was right. I don't spread lies, and I have no advantage in this situation. Thank you.

  • @matnau1412 I removed my comment because I truly made a mistake, I thought it was another model (XA10 instead of XH), in all honesty.

  • Really enjoyed that :) and good example of what the Letus does

  • i love canon

  • I think its funny when people buy Really nice Cameras, thinking they are going to make awesome movies, but then they realize that IDEAS dont come in the box. End up not making any movies/short/films etc.

  • Tolle Aufnahmen ! Wir haben auch eine XH-A1 im Verein.

  • What lense mount did you use with the canon?

  • That is a sexy camera!!!(: I know what i'm investing in now!!!!

  • Song?

  • This footage is great! Btw, the song sounds like Kreuzberg by Bloc Party.

  • What lens used?

  • fuck! that picture looks good.

  • watch in 240p, for a laugh.

  • Keep pressing 0 :-)

  • @NickZwanenburg

    Score!

  • cigarettes and pepsi........ the two worst things you could put in your mouth

  • @DanielGClapp nicely said.

  • @DanielGClapp What a waste of beauty when a woman smokes, it will make her age like two times faster.

  • Oh Shi- she smokes! smoker!

  • That girl was attractive until I saw the cigarette. Anyway, this camera is amazing.

  • I hope i get an answer :) But what were all the lenses and adapters you used for this video? I saw in the discription but i dont quite understand how the nexus fits on a 72mm canon? i have the xh a1 and want the letus extreme but im not sure what i need for it all, could you help! thanks

  • I FUCKING WANT IT!

  • @brunomusic95 Kreuzberg - Bloc Party

  • @9900484 thx a lot man :)

  • How did u edit in 1080p if the camcorder does just 1080i?

  • Good job man, beautiful footage and colors!

  • Super video, no words to describe. I just wonder for this kind of pic quality do i need to buy letus35 extreme 72mm and lens mount for xh a1?

    Thanks again

  • what store in NYC sells these??

  • i like the part where she smokes a cigg

  • dude this is fucking awesome !

  • Sick footage man. Great stuff.

  • what lens are you using

  • Hi. I'm interested in purchasing these two items (XHA1 and Letus 35mm) to start shooting some shorts and maybe one day a feature. I tried watching this in 1080p and it was jumpy and never quite flowed. In 720p it flowed nicely, so I wonder if because the max this camera can manage is 1080i (interlaced not 1080p - progressive) does this mean that you will never get smooth videos at 1080p?

  • Where can I get a good price letus35mm extreme like this for my XHA1S?

  • @VILMADIAZYLASONORA

WHat country are you in? There are a few good places I know in Canada

  • please tell me what song this is!

  • Having made short films with both a 5D MKII DSLR and a Canon XH series, both are perfectly workable solutions. I think the DSLR HD looks crisper but then you need a way to record better sound, zooming is more difficult, and you can tell that DSLR's ergonomics are not designed for video. However, once to add a DOF adapter to a video camera an extra layer of complexity is introduced making a DSLR somehow simpler. For run-and-gun shooting, though, the video camera probably the best bet.

  • Guerilla style filming gives the film a nice look especially in scenes that has alot of action and drama.

  • Great stuff. I cant' wait to get one my self.

  • Comment removed

  • Maybe this is better on an LCD TV because it looks like you applied Gaussian blur on the computer display. These days the "film look" is about sharpness. This footage looks like my old Panasonic DVX100. Do you have any raw footage posted? Good depth going on, but the coloring degraded the quality this time.

  • Fugly

  • very nice.

what did you use to import the video to your computer? (RCA?)

    TY

    GBY

  • she has....yellow teeth

  • She is beautiful....

  • This looks stunning quality... Wow. Mini DV?? and how much are HD mini DV tapes in Sterling anyone know?

  • What an exciting age we live in. 4 thousand dollars will buy you the ability to make video that's comparable in quality to a feature film or a TV show. Crazy stuff.

  • @intriguedgorilla It's a good camera to get your point accross. Even with the best Gaffer in the world, you can still tell it's a small censor. To one extent it matters who the DP is, but I would still trade it for a 16mm machine if I was serious. Good for weddings, nice toy.

  • does anybody know the name of this song?please let me know

  • @VideoArts22 the song is Bloc Party - Kreuzberg. I went on a google search haha

  • what band is that? (by the way, this test video is amazing)

  • @capecodairsofter the song is Bloc Party - Kreuzberg. I went on a google search haha

  • @seven7years thanks.

  • Thanks for inspiring me to get this camera!!

  • i've seen many changes of focus, is automatically? i have a eos 7d but i've to do manually and is too hard. The focus change at 0:47 is an auto function?

  • hey simmo whats the name of the song you used for this video?

  • I see allot of guys filming with DSLR's - is it better quality than a XH-A1s?

  • @LaDolceLingua I have only had a little experience shooting on a DSLR. From what I can see in good lighting conditions there is no difference in quality between the two. If you prefer the small DOF then by adding a DOF adaptor to the XH A1s will give you exactly that. In low natural lighting you would have to say a good quality DSLR like the Canon 5D mkII wins out though. In saying that I would not go on a film shoot with just a DSLR. I can see a place where using both would be beneficial though

  • @LaDolceLingua I shoot with a Canon 7D and a XH-A1s. I wouldn't say that one was better than the other, but they do compliment wach other quite well. The 7D has some moire/aliasing issues. It also doesn't handle fast moving action well. It is small though and easy to maneuver with. It also performs great in low light if you have the appropriate fast lens. The XH-A1 Handles fast motion better and doesn't have the same moire/aliasing, and has decent low light performance.

  • @LaDolceLingua A DSLR is superior in many ways... Mainly in the cost and quality of DOF. The Canon Rebel T2i goes for about $800 with one lens, when the XHA1 goes for around $3000 (Not including the cost of the DOF converter) I would much rather get laughed at while on set for having a little DSLR rather than a prosumer camcorder like the XHA1, because I know the quality of video will be much better. It also helps knowing I saved over $2000 dollars getting my camera, as opposed to theirs.

  • not even close thats why they make both video and still shot cameras

  • @LaDolceLingua There are advantages and disadvantages to using both. It depends on what your needs are.

  • i love it)check out mine)

  • I wonder if you can get the same result with that SG Pro lens...? Great stuff.

  • sick image my friend. Thank you for sharing. Im sure i want this camera now!

  • There's something about a camcorder through a 35mm adapter that I feel beats out even Canon's 5D mkII or 7D. I think it's the flat DOF that the DSLRs just don't seem to have to me. Even with their ISO's high enough so the DOF is deeper, there is just this bit of an unnatural bloom and blur to the DSLR DOF.

  • @occupiedbytim

Not to mention the nitty and gritty bits of grain and noise that just add on to the character of the Canon XHA1S. Sure, you can add grain in post to the already crystal clear DSLRs, but it just isn't quite the same. I don't know. There's something about it.

  • Bloc Party was the perfect music choice!

  • '

why this camera is always shake shake shake,,,

try use it a HOLD STILL with a camera to help less shake shake shake,,,

    or use a tripod

  • @bestamerica this was the first time I had ever used my camera with a letus extreme, all together the rig is very heavy and i was using it handheld as i was just mucking around for my own benefit so yeah it is very shaky! these days i use a shoulder mount or a tripod depending on what i'm shooting

  • B-E-A-UTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing footage. which lenses do you recommend? I don't have the money to buy both lenses (Canon FD 50mm 1.8 and 135mm 2.5).

    thanks in advance.

  • @Lomito Thanks Lomito,

if you want the most versatile lens out of those two i would say go for the 50mm hands down. The 135mm is a portrait lens and was only used in this test for the close up shots of her smoking.

    Hope that helps

  • @simmoDH thanks alot.

  • @simmoDH thanks alot, and by the way two more questions

    * I just have to type "Canon FD 50mm 1.8 " on ebay, right?

*You don't need any accessory to fit the canon 50 mm lenses on the letus extreme?.

thanks in advance I'm kind of a newbie.

  • @Lomito yeah thats right. ebay is full of Canon FD lenses as they seemed to go a bit out of favour a few years ago so they are also relatively cheap. you need to make sure you have the Canon FD lens mount for the letus so you can attach it to the adaptor.

  • DISLIKE ! SHE SMOKES...SMOKING HOE..

  • She is not smoking

  • really nice video. great quality

did you have any problems importing the data in final cut pro?

and does this camcorder use minidv or sd card to save material?

  • @pr12WingYin No as long as I have all my import settings right I don't have any problems importing video into final cut. The camera uses HDminidv. Hope that helps :)

  • How come on CNET Reviews it says this camera cannot record in 720p, but your video is in 720p? Might be a dumb question...

    Thanks!

  • What lens are you using with the LetusExtreme. I have this same setup and I think this look is great. This is great, super impressed with your video.

  • @tubetoprocker I used two different lenses here, most of it was filmed using a canon FD 50mm 1.8 and the closer up shots were filmed using a canon FD 135mm 2.5, thanks for watching

  • Bloc Party and lovely quality <3

  • wow the looks are amazing it almost looks like film, what kind of preset did you use?

  • @GABOREMES thanks, I didn't actually use a preset when I filmed this, I graded everything in post

  • the quality is incredible. how much did the camera cost you?

  • @ceciliapotenza the camera cost me about $6K when I got it about 6 months ago. you'll need to fork out about another $2K though for an adaptor if you want a shallow depth of field as the camera cannot achieve that on its own unless of course you were to zoom very close in. thanks for watching

  • @simmoDH oh wow! i didn't expect it to be that much. i think (at least for now) i'd be willing to spend up to $3,500 for the camera itself and up to a thousand on other equipment. thanks for the info!

  • looks like ur advertising the ipod touch :P

  • how much will fiseye lenses comeout on these im thinking on purchasing one pretty soon.

  • Fucking awesome vid man.

  • i liked your style. where do you live? i need someone to shoot something for me in LA.

  • That girl is absolutly gorgeous, oh, and that camera is amazing, i wish i had one, so.. Are you making short films soon or something?

  • По налепят свою хренову цветокорректорный и не понятно как сама камера снимает....

  • Making any short films any time soon?

  • nice colors.

I love the dept of field work you did. this looks like a music video XD

  • what song?

  • awesome. did u edit color in well, "color?" what filter did u use?

  • great quality. Nice piece.

  • what's the name of that song, and who is it by?

  • THATS IT! IM BUYING IT!....

  • This is a great piece of work. This is camera is out of this world, i am trying to get one for myself.

  • @DaRingMasters thanks man i used final cut pro to edit

  • wow....really god

  • Comment removed

  • yeah amazing can you shoot more videos like this... love the cut, everything

  • woww im really fascinated with that camera..i hope can buy it..how u do to look with that color..is just amazing, great work..

  • muy buenooooo

  • Great shots....looks good...colors...depth of field....nice one....

  • turn off the music, it influences you. If you came to see a camera test. The music makes it seem better.

  • without the music it is still good.

  • What program did you colour correct and export from?

  • i think the handheld look gives it a nice vibe

  • @bibget i agree with the fag.

  • i really like the footage. would you be able to link us photos to your setup. i wanna see how it all looks like.

  • I was considering an XL1s for a first serious camera but seeing the difference in quality these have has made me reconsider.

I'll be paying a lot more than 1600US though here in the UK!

  • I have the same camera and am considering a 35mm lens adapter. How much did your entire rig cost excluding the camera?

  • I bought a bundle which included the adapter, support rails, lens mount and hard case. The whole thing came to about $1600 US. You'll have to buy your own lenses though. I opted for Canon FD as they are relatively cheap to get on ebay. The whole rig connected to the camera is pretty heavy i'll need a bit more practice with it especially with handheld but the results you can get are really worth the price

  • Cool video. Thanks for sharing.

  • five out of five stars. would give it 100 if i could. also, the chic is way hot.
