  • Dave Harley should be included....No, he's not famous in Nashville...but he could be. He's right up there with the best I've ever heard. I guess being in England is a drawback to becoming a famous steel picker.

  • Don't now how I got here, but I could click away for a moment. GREAT video.

  • Holy mother of pearl, the drummer is running away with it! Weldon starts out at a nice easy tempo and the drummer keeps speeding up. Hey, chill out, this isn't about you, it's about a great steel player. You can tell the drummer has played in clubs a bunch and is used to playing on top of the beat, and on top of that, and on top of that, and on top of that. Great guitar break by the late Bobby Caldwell. Weldon has such great hands.

  • A great song by a truly great steel guitarist. I have been a fan of Weldon for many years. And, I might add, that I have admired your steel playing, Bill Ferguson. You have a wonderful touch on the steel. A Montana steeler, Louis Armentaro at

  • @lousteeler Wow, thank you for the kind compliments. I just play what I feel. Not a super picker by any means, but I love it.

    Bill

  • Thanks for this GREAT GREAT post!

  • Great one, Lloyd. *****

  • Just BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for the share Mister Stereo!

  • Ahh -so nice\

    stars

  • That man is my grandpa

  • How cool is that.

I have had several grandchildren spot their grandpa's playing in my videos.

    Bill

  • Are you Rainey?

    If so, I know you.

  • gorgeous.

  • Great Stuff!

  • Between Weldon, Buddy Emmons, Curly Chalker, Hal Rugg and Maurice Anderson, the best steel pickers ever are represented. Curly and Hal rest in Peace.

  • Don't forget Lloyd Green!

  • I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with him through a friend. He got me on the stage at the Grand Ole opry to watch him play and meet all the classic stars. What a great man, friend and father I am sure.

  • Weldon Myrick is truly a wonderful picker great touch and tone and a master on getting the special sound on everything he picks...great sound....

  • One of the truly legendary nashville steel men. along with Hal Rugg, Lloyd Green, Pete Drake they were the sound of Nashville in the 60s and 70s.

  • Why do the videos' keep cutting in and out?

  • 6029mute

Are you using a dial up or high speed connection? You are the only one that has said anything about the music cutting out. I just watched and it was fine.

    Bill Ferguson (Steelpicker)

  • Bill;

I am currently in Algeria, which MAY be the reason. I amusing a dial up, again because I am over here may be the reason. I head home next week, and it might change.

    Thanks

    Dave Cochran

  • Video is great if I could hear (one) without it always cutting out on me. Am I doing something wrong?

  • cmlbob is absolutely correct - country music just isn't the same without this beautiful sound. Weldon Myrick truly is a 'great'.

  • His technique is flawless, making this complicated instrument look like duck's soup to play, which is the mark of a true master. Thank you ever so much for sharing this beautiful rendition. :-)

  • You're thinking of Cayton Roberts who played such great non pedal steel with Hank Snow.

  • He played with Bill Anderson and when Connie Smith band was formed he was her Steel player. In the 60's

  • nice one

  • There is absolutely nothing more beautiful than a Steel Guitar in country music!!! I grew up loving honkytonk and the great men who picked the steel!! The lack of it in these modern country songs is more than noticable!!! Thanks for the great videos of these legendary artists......... and the great old songs they've perserved here!!

  • Love it!!

  • like that one

  • beautiful Vd. The Ole Opry sure could use this type of steel sound these days. Superb!thx

  • Didn't he play in Hank Snow's band? What a great sound!!!

  • Not to my knowledge. Only on the Grand Old Opry shows.

  • Love all these videos
