why...if a band mentions the name Jesus, or god, they are right away a "christian band" Andy went to a christian highschool, but felt it wasn't right for him, so dropped out and home schooled the last year...just let them be a band
This is great I really hope you play this in Denver at the Gothic Theater tonight That would be awesome You guys Rock I can't wait to see you guys perform tonight in Denver! :) Manchester Orchestra Rules!!!
You played this when I saw you last year in Florida, and I must say now: this song along with about a hundred other things makes Andy Hull the most amazing man on earth. I am still ranting about how beautiful his beard was in person..

That song wasn't even close to good or funny. Never seen anything else from this band and I don't know if this is suppose to be an inside joke or something. But this was just flat out a waste of 4 minutes.
Fail troll is fail? I don't know if you're trolling but you just insulted one of the greatest band ever. It is a joke, thus while he is playing it people are laughing. Also, listen to their music before you comment saying they wasted 4 minutes of your time.
It depends on what you consider to be Christian. Yes, they have elements of Christian discussion. But I wouldn't overtly call them a Christian band. Instead, they fuse the spiritual with the secular and define a sound that questions God, finds ways of representing him that wouldn't make sense any other way. It's truly inventive. Much better than being a Christian band.
better is a very interesting choice of words. It seems that in music, or maybe art altogether, it always seems a lot cooler to be looking for God than to find Him.
I wouldn't consider them a Christian band at all. They do have lyrics that have references to God but that doesn't make them christian. They don't show Christian values at all. Even at that they are still my favorite band of all time.
This is for this guy and everyone else who has thought about the whole Andy Hull/Christianity thing. His dad and grandpa were both ministers and "Like a Virgin" was all about his insecurities about it all. As far as the rest of his albums, he says he is influenced by are "life, death, God, the devil, my family, my friends, woody allen, the gospels, and various others."
Google "andy hull absolute punk interview" and click the first one. Best interview i've seen of him.
Yeah exactly, there are references to God in some of their songs, but that dosn't even mean that they believe in good, lyrics often mean something completly different to what you think. Even if they are all Christians, they're definatly not a Christian rock band in the genre sense of the term.

@thereisnolight19 I think Andy believes in Christ, but is still pretty skeptical of the idea of Him existing. So I don't think Andy is spiritual or religious at all, but I think he still has the thought that Jesus is real. Does that make any sense? I know your comment was 11 months ago, but I wanted to put my thought into it.

Yeah I just spammed the hell out of this by copying and pasting the same comment to people who were talking about the "Christian" aspect of Andy.

I don't know about that. "Christian" marketed bands sell a ton. Which I find ironic. I wonder if Jesus would drive them out of the temple.
