Initially, I found this piece to be too close for comfort to a specific musical image of early Joy Division (percussive simplicity resulting in a simplistic framework wherein the dominant bass, in the shape of driving, angular bass-lines, unfolds, sustained by atonal currents of synthetic and guitar sounds underlying), or moreso as what Joy Division is remembered and perceived in that period of their existence. But these doubts gradually dissolve into a languishing, content darkness. All hail.
