I heard a "celebrity" will be on board the Coast Starlight from LA to Seattle, Sun Jun 13, 2010 - I hope Amtrak makes sure that the cars are spotless, the windows are clean, the toilets are working, the china and silverware are polished, and the staff ? the utmost in efficiency and courtesy ... who is that celebrity? Make reservations and find out !

I wish the equipment was as clean in the City Of New Orleans trains 58 and 59! Aside from the one losing the decals that train was squeeky clean!!! When they get to Hammond, LA where I live at they are horribly filthy. I have rode out of Chicago numerous times and like one time was the consist clean. The outside of the train, the inside was fine.

Sadly, they did not have time or just lazy to clean their fleets which they should wash them every week.

They actually have wash racks in New Orleans and Chicago. The only car they wash is the windows on the sightseer lounge.

Mainly guys whinning about their union contracts does not say they have to and stuff. They take no pride in how crappy they look as long as they get that fat check.

You said a mouthful there. I tell a buddy of mine all day long if they run it like business they would do good. Instead the unions and government run the shit in the ground. Just like a plane ride. Should a 700 mile plane ride only be $150? Not likely. To get there in 3 hours it would be worth it to spend $500 on the plane ticket.
