While I've been an avid fan for 50+ years and thought I've heard everything that he recorded, I'm obviously wrong! I'm most pleasantly surprised to hear something new! Oh my, he was such a total master of the guitar and truly the Country Gentleman. Thank you for sharing this recording!
@ib422000 Man Of Mystery. Written by a chap called Michael Carr and a much slower orchestral version was used as the theme music for a series of British 'B' films of the Edgar Wallace mystery stories.
Wow this is good stuff. I have never heard this recording. You seem to have a huge a collection here doug haha. Any chance you have his recording of Smile? I've always wanted to hear it but i cant find it anywhere!
I agree with daffydoug!the more you listen the more you like. This a fine interpretation of this tune, similar to what Jorgen Ingmann did with his version of Apache.Close enough, but good in it's own way."Cheesy" come on now!
I think it's really interesting that every musician who has covered this song hasn't been able to make any successful attempts at making this song "Their" own like Jimi Hendrix did with All Along The Watchtower, as opposed to the original version by Bob Dylan
It sure is a rarity! Never heard before! Thanks for posting!

A real gem! %") Thanks Doug.
If you want raw rockabilly and balls-out bluegrass - it's out there. But it's kinda sacred sounds. You've gotta be worthy of finding it.
Meanwhile - The Chetmeister has earnt the right to play it his own goddam way. A truly great guitarist!

Is this from a Chet Atkins single? I've never seen a single discography, only lp discographies of Chet. Did Chet have many single only releases?
snarnok 2 years ago

Any Shadows fan knows this one - cheesy Chet (well he did have his cheesy side, like we all do) but I love it

Amazingly, even though I was the one who posted this, it took me several listens before I actually liked the tune. It grew on me!
