I think Hernandez is an excellent player but he's only played 1 season in the EPL. 2nd season up we'll see how good he really is as other teams will be ready for his game. Hopefully he'll pull through. The choice isn't between hernandez or berbatov. It wasn't about SAF sacrificing berbatove to accomodate rooney as his 'pay me or sell me' blackmail of last year, at a time rooney was playing shite. @BASABASA4747 There can be a lot of reasons why he didn't play so much at the end, only the MUFC staff knows. As a athlete you have very small margins physically and mentally, very few players can keep top notch an entire season. In Premier League the margins are even smaller.
And Berbatov wouldn't make a difference to that game, look at teams that beat Barca, they have a very quick playstyle and Berbatov isn't the fastest striker in the squad. And the Barca team was in good form!!

He had a great first half to the season and an okay second half, nani had a brilliant first two thirds to the season but since valencia returned he has been very quiet. Vidic has been consistantly great all season and rooney for the second half of the season was united's best attacking player.

He's great against slower teams and small teams but when it comes to big teams he is too slow and just slows the team down which is not a good thing.

I think Hernandez is an excellent player but he's only played 1 season in the EPL. 2nd season up we'll see how good he really is as other teams will be ready for his game. Hopefully he'll pull through. The choice isn't between hernandez or berbatov. It wasn't about SAF sacrificing berbatove to accomodate rooney as his 'pay me or sell me' blackmail of last year, at a time rooney was playing shite. Rooney's good but overrated - he's a hit with english fans cos he runs about a lot.

Owen preferred to Berbatov? Ludicrous. Rooney over Berbatov is bad enough, great player though Rooney is. Only in England I guess. Owen's a has been who's more interested in horses and betting than football. Not worthy of a United contract - simply bed blocking the path of the likes of Welbeck. SAF rarely gets it wrong but his tactical and selection mistakes in the CL final shows hes only human too.

@BASABASA4747 He was not having a good CL that's why he din't start. He was top scorer yes, but he scored basically half his goals in 2 PL games and wasn't doing much after. Also, even if he would of started what would he have done? Barcelona's midfield was 3 times better than Man United midfield that game.

@BASABASA4747 There can be a lot of reasons why he didn't play so much at the end, only the MUFC staff knows. As a athlete you have very small margins physically and mentally, very few players can keep top notch an entire season. In Premier League the margins are even smaller.
And Berbatov wouldn't make a difference to that game, look at teams that beat Barca, they have a very quick playstyle and Berbatov isn't the fastest striker in the squad. And the Barca team was in good form!!

Makes me cry that SAF favours Rooney or Hernandez over Berbatov - not least because Rooney, Berba AND Hernandez should all be in the starting line up. Just play Rooney deeper, AMF, behind Hernandez and Berbatov. Get another midfielder in and United will do Barca and all the rest next season.

He scored against chelsea in the community shield, league and champions league.. he scored against liverpool.. the first half of the season he didn't start or take part in the big games so it's impossible to score when your not on the pitch and also in games like arsenal away no one scored (not just not hernandez)

He has been important this season but herandez is better for united than berbatov is. @salvadory berbatov didn't hand us the title by his goals and assists.. he got 1 assist all season so at least watch the games before you comment on players. He had a great first half to the season and an okay second half, nani had a brilliant first two thirds to the season but since valencia returned he has been very quiet. Vidic has been consistantly great all season and rooney for the second half of the season was united's best attacking player.

@mikeaprice09 sure he did - how many passes whether they were assists or not opened up goals for united through berbas control(maybe you should watch how the goals were created in the first place) and sublime touch 81% completion rate higher than most united players- in fact if you like up the stats hes bettered tevez in almost every area- i look foward to another 6 month dry spell next season for rooney as always- then hell start fouling while chicarita gets caught off side for the 10th time

Rooney is the most important united player and has been the past 4-5 months with some world class displays in the big games. Hernandez is a striker, his aim is to put the ball in the back of the net and he did it 20 times. It doesn't matter if its from 2 yards or 20..

Berbatov is not as important to the team as hernandez because of that. when berbatov and rooney play together there is no partnership. rooney and hernandez is the future of manchester united, berbatov is good and its stupid if united sell him but he's not a first team player

@salvadory Yea hernandez missed many chances in both those games, that means nothing because usually he would score those chances. and I know nani is the future, but we aren't talking about wingers we are talking about strikers. Rooney had a terrible first half to the season but the past 3-4 months he has been untouchable and been playing insanely good in some of the game (schalke away, chelsea home and away, awsome overhead kick, hatrick v westham, 2 vs astonvilla, goal vs barca and arsenal etc

Hernandez is a better natural goalscorer and can poach goals. Skill wise berbatov is miles ahead, dont get me wrong i really love to watch some of berbatovs skills and games like against blackburn, but I prefer hernandez because he can stay up and get the goals while rooney gets involved in the action.

@m0r7r3d You make it sound like Hernandez did nothing.. Hernandez played less games from the start compared to Berbatov but still scored 20 goals. Like I said the TEAM play better with Hernandez upfront rather than Berbatov because Rooney drops deeper and plays like a midfielder. Berbatov is too slow for the big games like the chelsea games. He's great against slower teams and small teams but when it comes to big teams he is too slow and just slows the team down which is not a good thing.
