ok interlaced used to be bad but i bet on average most user will like 1080i better if they have to do 1080i30 (because of lack of ressource)like if you play with an old system but your playing a demanding game!1080p60p is like the aa setting ss in gpu ,yes it is nice but overkill since we dont have game to take advantage of !

The current generations of consoles do not support 1080p gaming all the do is upscale to 1080p if u want the best graphics on ps3 set the resolution to 720p, turn rgb full range ON,super white ON,and deep color ON but not all tvs support deep color so check if it does and use a hdmi 1.3 cable after that make adjustments to your tvs settings.

Shameonyou6 make sure ure HDMI cable is flush dude .. Ps3's have a finicky HDMI port on back .. Spesh the slim ps3 : ( also make sure ure HDMI is flush 2 ure tv HDMI port also .. That don't work buy a new HDMI cable

@Rezzmee you have to uncheck. then check 1080p because if you have it checked it recognizes that you want to play it using 720p. so unclick 720p then click 1080p

@TheJosht1603 hey i have a 32" hdtv and its 720p and i have an HDMI cable on it that supports 1080p and when i have the PS3 settings on 720p it looks good but you can see some jagged edges on the icons but when i switch it to 1080p the jaggd edges are gone and it looks much clearer and significantly better why is that? does my tv support 1080p even if it ony says 720p on the box? and do i leave it at 1080p if it looks better than 720? oh and i use my PS3 really close like 4 or 5 feet away

When I called Sony tech support. They said that all the xbox 360 and ps3 games are made and played in 720p. The game disk package box may say 1080p but sony said that the only time you will see 1080 is in stills or cut scenes in the game.. The game play is 720p. If you set the ps3 video output to 1080p then the ps3 will just do a upconvert like what happens when you play a standard def. dvd.
