  • Wow, great version.

  • love it!! that sound is so cool, is ecxellent!! i really miss this weezer

  • Who the hell is doing backing vocals?? It doesn't sound like Rivers, Pat or Matt and i didn't think the old guitarist did backing vocals?

  • @SuperMegabar

It's most likely Jason Cropper, the old guitarist.

  • that solo is perfect

  • kitchen tapes ftw

  • i only like blue

  • This is the weezer I listen to. The new shit can't top this stuff.

  • hey this isnt bad, good cover

  • @vladd121 This is just a demo.... It's their song

  • @vladd121 This isn't a cover, this is Weezer back in 1993.

  • rivers was a metal ripper before he started weezer

  • @81donpiano yup, and his hair was down to his back

  • rivers was a metal ripper before he started weezer

  • Three people are absolute Nazi scum. Love weezer.

  • Ahh, Weezer takes me back.. 19, get off from work, head home to roll a joint and chill.

  • I'm a college burn-out that listens to Weezer. That is all...

  • the best song off the best album

  • the old weezer are more best than the new weezer. Blue Album and Pinkerton their best albums.

  • Love the slower beat on this version

  • where do you get these demos

  • @flareagaman If Blue Album is generic, someone teach me how to write generic music. Because, damn. 'Only in Dreams'? That's a masterpiece.

  • I love how people keep saying that Pinkerton is underrated, when pretty much all Weezer "fans" (Fans in quotation marks for a reason) orgasm over it...

If anything, Make Believe is their most underrated album.

  • @TheSenileFeline Maladroit?

  • @Atomduck Do you not know how to read?

  • Comment removed

  • @TheSenileFeline Maladroit is a good album and its another Weezer album thats underrated. Don't get so butt hurt.

  • @Atomduck I'm not being butthurt. Maladroit wasn't good...

  • @TheSenileFeline

dope nose is a good song

  • @produccionesmiranejo Well, yeah. That's one exception off the album. I find it very catchy.

  • I THINK that the vocal melody was hugily influenced by the bass line n the pixie's "gigantic" , which makes this song more badass

  • Sounds a lil like the Smashing Pumpkins doesnt it.

  • @killermel23

you know, i see what you're getting at lol

  • I'm glad they sped this up

Sounds kinda bad so slow like this :s

  • can someone please tell me where I can get The Kitchen Tapes, which is the demo that this is off of? Thanks!

  • @evan274 video2mp3 (dot) net

    you're welcome :)

  • what is the sample in the beginning? "eat this, keep living"

  • holy fuck listen to that SOLO!

  • absolutly amazing

  • It was funny. I've seen Weezer once in concert. What's funny is a they had a new album at the time and only did two songs off it! They did the whole Blue Album and Pinkerton. Included, of course, was Suzanne, but it was very fan friends. It's like they almost knew what we all wanted to hear.

  • The solo is pure perfection - I think it suits the song way better than the album version as well :(

  • i made a music video for this song, feel free to come check it out.

  • that's a heavy beat...

  • kinda like helmet.

or similar heavy comtemporaries, even before the Blue album itself...

  • WOW. Lot of passionate comments in this thread. Weezer are a great band and have over the years for better or worse changed. Though i think most would have to admit even the later albums do retain a little of their roots. Fact is band members get older and the songs they write will reflect different views. the songs you write when you're young with no responsibility will be different from the ones you write when you've got a wife and kids. Some people are just stuck in the past. They still rock.

  • @bmtmg

    Absolutely agreed!

  • out of all the songs on the third demo, the "tennis racket" snare fits this best.

  • Pinkerton and Blue were absolutely amazing, but let's not forget the mythical lost masterpiece that is Songs From the Black Hole.

  • Now why didn't they incorporate the Solo into the album version?

  • They did the solo, quite similar on the album, it's just a different set of chords behind the solo on this demo. On the album the riff behind the solo is the same as the rest of the song.

  • I think the solo in this version is much better than the one on the album but I still like the album version more.

  • Everyone calm the shit down, Raditude is gonna kick ass

  • @ToxicKlay Raditude was the worst Weezer album

  • Weezer has no ''worst'' album. They are all good, just in different orders of preference. I personally have Green as last in my list, and Raditude in 5th. But all of the albums are great in their own way.

  • Blue

    Make Believe

    rest are about the same

Except Red, red is my least favorite

  • wrong

  • @ToxicKlay care to back up this statement now that it's been released?

  • @lazrpo good god no

  • @ToxicKlay lol

  • Pinkerton is now one of the most misunderstood albums of all time, and my favorite Weezer album.

Seriously, I think it's more catching and less generic than the Blue album. Though the generic-ness of the Blue ablum is what makes it great.

  • OK ? what rolling stone issue did you plagerize that from ?

  • @wreklessabandon

    I was fucking high dude.

  • @flareagaman The reason I think Pinkerton is better than Thr Blue Album is that it was more confessive and emotional (thus being a core "emo" album). Its there best album. It always will be. Along with The Blue Album. Just my 2 cents.

  • @flareagaman couldn't agree with you more. While the Blue album was more accessible, Pinkerton was just more raw rock. I knew I was going to like it right away from the intro "Tired of Sex" with the drawn out guitar notes and simple drumming...apparently the new album is supposed to be a lot more 'rock,' but only time will tell

  • @flareagaman I wish I could thumb that up a hundred times.

  • @flareagaman PINKERTON>BLUE haha nothing tops the quirky horny lyrics on pinkerton

  • @flareagaman did you know that was named the worst album of 96'... i fliped cause it's a great album.

  • @TNTIV well Rolling Stone's Magazine named it the worst.

  • @TNTIV It was named the worst back then but now the reissue of it in 2010 received 4 1/2 stars from rolling stone.

  • @flareagaman i like pinkerton, but i also dislike that rivers was such a reclusive jackass during that time period

  • @flareagaman

It wasn't generic at the time. Only when every other band started listening to weezer is when it became "generic"

  • @flareagaman it's not generic, its honest

  • Is there anyway I can get this demo version? I love the way it sounds. Is it on any special edition type cd's from Weezer?

  • This is found on the Deluxe version of The Blue Album.

However, I suggest signing up for a website called Weerez (google it) because it has rare and lost content by Weezer. I'm sure this song's on there for download.

  • Why was weezer so good then and not now? I loved the blue album and then pinkerton. I didnt even bother with green and the other ones up till make believe. Make believe was a fail so i went back to listen to the 2 good albums. Then that wad of bullshit came out as we know the red album. If you dont have pinkerton and blue then your missing out on what weezer was good for. The blue album delux edition made the album even better!

  • They made more album's thinking they could just get richer,But you can't get rich making dog shit.I think they need outside help from a good song writer to bring them back on track,As well keeping that old sound they have and they will succeed again.

  • Will us fans ever say do something to get an old sound back?

  • Shut up. They dont do it to get rich. If they brought in a new songwriter it would suck even more. Rivers is an excellent songwriter. The problem is the other three trying to write songs. Thought I Knew from Red is the shittiest Weezer song there is and Brian wrote that crap. Everything else on Red is good. Dreamin? Are you kidding me? Dreamin is the best album track since Pinkerton days

  • sure, rivers is always still a great writer, but, i do miss the way pinkerton sounded, the newer songs, they just are, impersonal.

  • Scott wrote Thought I Knew

  • You can't? Because I'm pretty sure they've made an assload of money making dogshit.

  • What happened was Pinkerton. It was a commercial failure and tore into Rivers's psyche and lead to Weezer's hiatus. During that time, Rivers stopped focusing on personal songs and started writing pop melodies and cliche lyrics as opposed to the heartfelt Pinkerton and Blue albums.

That's where the Green Album came from. I gave that album away the same day I bought it. Complete pop rubbish.

  • I did know about the commercial failure of pinkerton but god damn some one gonna punch rivers in the mouth and tell him to listen to blue and pinkerton again.

  • Its called an opinion dumb fuck. Elitist? im not trying to make other people follow my ways. Im stating my opinion on the first 2 albums. In my opinion they were the best. They werent too poppy. Ratitude was a fail in my eyes same thing with red. The others were okay. How would you even know Rivers hates people with an opinion?

  • @44racerangels182 I always thought of the red as a half decent album and far better than ratitude

  • The first two albums are the best. That goes with a lot of bands. You're totally coming at his opinion from the wrong angle. Actually, you saying that everything after the first two albums is better, is extemely hypocritical with the whole point you're trying to make. I'm just happy the records exist, enjoy the music!!!

  • fuck you. none of what you just said is true.

  • ROFL

    get a clue kid

  • @girlie347 No one is trying to act cool by stating their own opinions. You pretty much contradict yourself by stating that repeating what other people have said is retarded. My opinion is that the Blue Album and Pinkerton are their best albums. I don't hate the other albums, just when it comes down to it, they just don't match their first 2 albums. By stating that we're "elitists" because we don't agree with your opinion is not a good argument. Make an argument for your opinion and back it up.

  • so true, pal, so true.

I'd rather Weezer have disbanded after the green.

  • I Need To Buy this Cd on Plastic

  • snare is absolute shit, but I like this better than the album version otherwise

  • This is by far my favorite song on the Blue Album.

    And I LOVE this version.

So glad it is here, eh?

  • i think people are get billy (Smashing pumkins) mixed up with Kurt Cobain (nirvana)

  • How is that? Really? How is that possible? Mad.

  • ...what?

  • Snare sounds like shit! But it's so cool. All their demos were slower than the studio versions. So cool. The Buddy demo has a crazy heavy sound.

  • holy shit this is awsome....young weezer...rivers was always talented.....i love new weezer but nothing will top 90's weezer

  • jdugm:absolutely. Blue + Pinkerton rip!!

  • what's a demo?

  • A Pre release of songs before they are put onto an album

  • couldnt have put it better myself m8

  • I used to not really like this song as much as the others on the album, but now I love it!

  • I like this alot better

  • they changed just enough so they could keep it on youtube without the record company claiming copyright infringement

  • I've always loved the solo on this demo... the vocal styling, not so much.

  • The solo has much more emotion it here than in the studio version, I'm surprised they changed it for the final cut.

  • eh.

  • its slower than on the album it seems...i actually like it better

  • awesome...so raw

  • i reeally like the solo here

  • Pro

  • reminds me of billy corgan here kindof for a seacond

  • do not even compare that joke of a singer billy corgan to rivers

  • i agree that he is ajoke but just listen, it sounds a bit like it and a weebit like cobain

  • i hope u dont mean kurt cobain

  • yeah the way he pushes his voice

  • billy corgan can sing man. Dont be an idiot. The smashing pumpkins rock BIG TIME..... well at least they used to

  • your kidding me right? have you seen them live. TERRIBLE and billy is the reason everybody left the band

  • did you see them around 10 years ago?? pure awesomness. Dont get me wrong, that band is gone now, but originally they were great. One of the best bands of the last 90s.

  • Yeah...can really hear that different tone in "Thief, You've Taken All that was me" and that Sew your Pants together song....I like it..he has an arsenal of vocals behind him

  • Rivers does something strange with his voice on these demos and other early Weezer recordings that I've not heard him do since, that Cobain-like push rendering the tone a bit gravely. I wonder if Ric Ocasek encouraged him to avoid doing this with his voice.

  • Yeah I really like the way he sings on these demos , but he probably was discouraged from it early on.

  • Indeed. He did it a little in 'Holiday' too. It sounds awesome, but I guess it's a good thing he doesn't do it anymore since his voice has remained remarkably intact over a decade. I mean, take Chris Cornell for example. Can you imagine him trying to hit the range in something like 'Nothing to Say' or 'Jesus Christ Pose' today? It seems like he basically ruined his vocal chords for a few years of aural perfection. Damn good years though...

  • actually chris cornell's voice was ruined mostly by smoking...rivers doesn't smoke thats why rivers still has a band and chris cornell is taking whatever gig he can but he was still so great
