  • Beautiful! I'm so glad you are informing ladies about this. My mom died of Aids back in 94 when everyone disguised it as cancer and no one spoke about Aids. She got it from a boyfriend as well. She was only 42 when she died. I took care of her and saw what this Beast can do to a young woman. Ladies, TakeHeed!!!!!! and Take CARE!!!

  • Thank you for such a wonderful video! So much valuable information shared!

  • I got tested last month and it is definitely better to know than not to know. I was so happy when I got my results and it empowered me to be more watchful and more careful. I wrote a poem about it and talked to my friends, convinced them to get tested but most of the men I know refuse to believe they can get infected. They feel they are invincible. I'll keep putting it out there.

  • I totally enjoyed the information you shared in this video. I am a nurse by profession and it is nice to hear a lay person relaying the same message. It is "our" responsibility to take care of ourselves and each other!

  • So true, thank you for making this video.

  • five stars...two thumbs up.

  • This has to be the best video ive seen all year. I just love this speech.

  • I was tested without my kowledge when I was pregnant. They told me after they tested me. This is pretty sad and scary stuff. I am negetive of course.

  • Yeah, don't be scared! Get tested. No harm no foul. Step up and ask your doctor for the STD test, including HIV. I do.

  • Very much appreciated!

  • Thank you for making this video.

  • 5 stars! I appreciate you for making this video.

I'm not sure why black women are still largely not getting tested. There are so many resources out there and such a push for us to do so.

It all comes down to denial. And that worries me, because that means this is going to be a problem for many years to come. Here in the DC area, "epidemic" is an under-statement. 1 out of 20 people here have HIV & 80% of those people are BLACK.

  • In my opinion, and in the opinion of many others, the only way to go will be *mandatory* testing. It has gotten to this point. Every woman, every man and child. That is the only way a majority of these infections will be curbed. Because 50% don't even know they have it.

Statistically, for every 160 black female subscriber on Youtube, at least one of them is infected with HIV. Is that crazy or what? It has to hit home, it has to.

  • p.s. not to belabor the point, but sometimes people think this stuff is too crazy to be true.

But in case anyone is curious the numbers come from the CDC (but keep in mind they are old, from 2005):

1 out of 50 black men are infected.

1 out of 3,000 white women are infected

  • Thanks Veronica and Kimmay..This was really needed... Kim I just knew you would have a very informative video about this for us to enjoy! It's not too late!...lol

  • Great Video

  • Great video!!

  • Great Video! Not only do women need to get tested and use condoms, they also need to know that it is okay to ask their partner to get tested with them before they have sex.

  • 5 Stars VERY important topic!!! I've known many who have been affected by this disease. Thanks for sharing this info. To all reading, if you haven't been tested, get tested, I did.

  • What is your hair type? And good point that you talked about it!

  • GREAT VIDEO!!!

  • 1 million stars on this one!! I have been tested more than once. You just have to honest with yourself and understand that this can happen to you. Thank you for sharing this.
