HI I have a syncaset too 238, whats wrong with yours? I recognize the same siren noise bc, my deck suffers the same. let me know if you got it fixed and what was wrong with it. I have one too but wont sell it anymore i guess, they sound too great to sell for cheap.

I had the same problem.
Just replace the little silver (SMT) caps on the motor PCB and I think the capstan motor is working fine than.
It worked on my deck!
