Once I had translated your answer into English, I find that I agree with you. The 'Pets' decided early on NOT to come out as gay because they didn't want to be labeled a 'gay band' like Frankie and The Communards/Bronski Beat etc
But if you look at their songs from a gay perspective, it's obvious that, from the very beginning, they were not writing from a hetero perspective. All the best songs are ambiguous, they let the listener decide what it's all about.
I never even imagined that 'Rent' was a song about a kept woman. But Neil has always maintained that it was written that way. Most Pets songs are open to several interpretations, one of which is the 'Gay' one...

I changed my opinion about the music.
It's good, only not the best from the boys, but still good. ( I like their music very much.)
And I have no prejudices against gay men, only I think this clip is disappointing.
I think, I have the right to say honestly my opinion , I don't want to offend anybody and it has nothing to do with homosexuality.

I think the point is the suppression of the sex drive by religion in order to wreak havoc with people's capacity for the kind cool rational contemplation that would enable you to see that it is all shit.

I love their music and think the song lyrics are briliant but I really don't like their actual videos. But this one is pretty good. They've had some great videos don't get me wrong, but I think over 60% of their videos are lacking a lot. But I love 95% of their songs.

The point of this song is that it doesn't say "one in a million GAY men". It could just as easilly be written from a female perspective, like 'Rent' was. The best thing about many of the Pets songs, is that they are non-gender-specific. Get over yourself!

Once I had translated your answer into English, I find that I agree with you. The 'Pets' decided early on NOT to come out as gay because they didn't want to be labeled a 'gay band' like Frankie and The Communards/Bronski Beat etc

But if you look at their songs from a gay perspective, it's obvious that, from the very beginning, they were not writing from a hetero perspective. All the best songs are ambiguous, they let the listener decide what it's all about.

I never even imagined that 'Rent' was a song about a kept woman. But Neil has always maintained that it was written that way. Most Pets songs are open to several interpretations, one of which is the 'Gay' one...
