I believe that "Marriage" is a union between Man & Woman..it is set in stone and heterosexuals deserve the right to that title..I believe this is why its challenging for us as lesbians to get leniancy, respect, or acknowledgment when it comes to those of us who want to "Marry" our significant other. In this lifestyle we have to be meticulously careful with what we ask for and our approach, it is imperitive that we learn to seek soliderity, acceptance, and understanding in the right places..ijs
I do love this topic and not a lot of young ppl understand why gay marriage is so important. It hard to do financial things when you are not legally married. For example, I had to have surgery and my girlfriend could not come because she had to work. The FMLA law protects a married couple from getting fired if something happened to their family, but because you can never legally be a "family" you are not protected by this law simply because your partner will always simply be your girlfriend.
I'm all for gay marriage but even if the marriage isn't legal then it isn't gonna stop me from being with the person I love for the rest of my life. So I agree with you on that, it's only a piece of paper when it all boils down to it, they did the same thing to blacks and whites around fifty or so years ago.
marrige sounds kool thers nothing more i want in the world then too get married with a stud :) hehee an adopt a child. its like the biggest dream of mine. me and her and a little baby boy. but the law is unfair..and its sad too see that innocent healthy dreams like mine will not be able to become reality. we gotta keep fighting. ! we are not commiting a crime being gay is not a fukin crime ther fore we shud have the same rights as straight couples!
It's not the paper. It's the legal protection it brings. My fiance and I have been together for nine years. We have children we made together and she cannot even legally adopt them. People look at her as if those aren't her kids and when I say people I mean like doctors and teachers and shit. At least if we were married she would get the automatic title as step-parent.
yeah, but you're just thinking about the love/social aspects of marriage. what about the legal rights and privileges? like custody of a child, inheritance rights, hospital powers, health insurance benefits, what happens when your partner is ill or dies that kind of stuff. maybe the solution is to unlink that stuff from straight marriage too! but if not, marriage is important to keep your family and your rights safe. x
I'm intrigued by both of U now, LOL. I think U two R studdingly beautiful! I love UR style the one on my right. Stop by my channel if interested. ;o] & whats y'alls name?
@Kerry31088 thanx! Yea its alot that ppl take four granted when their heterosexual. If it was restrictions put on them as to what age or race the cud marry then they wud understand our struggles! Love is love people! If ur not hurting anyone then let it be!
I have been married to a woman and at one pointe in my life to a man and I truly believe in the institution of marriage but there has to be a strong foundation doesn't matter if it's a man or woman make sure that your doing it for the right reasons with the right person. Nothing is promised but loved is the one thing that goes to every part of the world and every race, sexual origin and gender so let that be the foundation and what people do with that love is on them.
Marriage is the ultimate commitment! It endures all..... Gay or straight. It's not so cliche'. If you're gonna do it, make sure it's what you want. Love is love..
Im 26 and have been withe my girlfriend since I was 17! That's a long time and I no that I'll be with her the rest of my life! No marriage wud change that! However if it was legal I wud love to marry her! There's so many issues and rights we're denied because of our sexuality! Like if our love one is sick in the hospital we can say what shud be done in their behave! We can't even stay after visiting hours like a real spouse can because we're not "family" when we really are! It's just alot we mi
@sweething319 Exactly, I definitely agree. That "piece of paper" is what gives you your rights over that persons well being and decisions about them if they can't make them and most young people don't realize that. It's not just gay people that jump into relationships. It's human beings in general. Any consenting adults should be able to marry any other consenting adults.
I Agree.. Love is Love No Matter What Race nor Gender, I Support Gay Marriage Not Because Im Lesbian But Because I Think Everyone Should Have Equals Rights.. But I Also Think Marriage Is Jus Another Thing The Government Have Over Us.. U Dont Need To Sign Papers and All This Bull To Get Married, All U Need Is Ur Partner and Rings, And if U Happen To Break Up, Just Leave Wit What U Got No Need For Divorce Court And Shit.. If My Girl Wanna Get Married Then I Will For Her, But We Aint Signing Papers
it's not just about the marriage it's about the rights you get as a married couple that are denied to you when you're just long term girlfriends. That's the issue.
I understand where your coming from, & as a activist for Marriage Equality I believe we should have the same rights as others because thats whats equal. I personally make a big deal over it because I dont see why I should be treated so differently because of who I happen to love.
Anyway, this video really helped me, particularly with my project. Thanks <3
@studology101 Yay glad u guys talked bout this! Ur so right u dont need a piece of paper to show the love u have for one another as long as u stay loving each other that is the main thing! And trusting one another! U guys are beautiful and awesome keep up the good work love u guys! :) peace++love<3
whats good bros. im glad yall touched on this subject. its alot of people dats scared to get married because of their sexual orientation . But me personally I feel people should b entitled 2 do what they want to do. dats the american way!. but thanks 4 being major figures n da lgbt community #weallwegot .
Part 2. In fact, straight people have fucked up their own relationships, their own foundation, etc. What I know? Everyone has value, all relationships have value, and marriage is a human right. This double standard is so full of bullshit.
I am so tired of this double standard in our society. Straights have the rights to marry, divorce, fuck it up, whatever. And the LGBT community is harrased, degraded, not given rights and blamed. The arguement blames the LGBT community for destroying the foundation of our society, and I guess that is straight marriages. In my opinion, I wish straight people would deal with their own issues instead of blaming a group, The LGBT community, for destroying marriage when in fact,
Because we (lgbt) jump into and out of relationships so quickly, I don't think it is a good idea, in that aspect... I agree with one of the other post..... Marriage us a human right and a choice that is made by both parties and should not involve the government.
Marriage is just a contract (easy to in and hard as H_LL to get out of)!!! I dont ever plan on gettin married but I dont knock those who want or has gotten married!!! Love you both (man I was lookin forward to so breakin news...lol)
I think the main reason we push for the rights if marriage is a financial reason. Married couples get so many discounts and helpful things for the family that we don't have the right to. For example if you die there's a high possibility that your spouse won't get your insurance and belongings. Even if its in your will!
There is an aspect of marriage that is hard to explain. But it took my wife and I to a new and unpredictable level in our love for each other. Every couple (unrelated adults of course) should have the right to access this.
My thing is why is it okay for straight people to mess up their marriage in the sense of cheating and all kind of shit they do but us as gay people we can't get marriage at all? That's ridiculous! I support gay marriage as well for those that want to get married
nice :) love your views on this. i think some people may have an idea that the relationship will magically get better after marriage. i've never really been big on marriage either but i understand how it's a symbol of love. i like that aspect.
Y'all are right people go for years without taking that walk down the aisle. My studzband and I have been together for many years and we have talked about it, but like y'all said people began to get upset when our community takes it to that level. So I'm with Dz, Texas was the last on the list to abolish slavery so hopefully me and my love will be around when it is legalized here and we will be in line too. As for now we are perfectly fine :) Note: many companies in Texas already have adjusted
OOOH and another thing... I get so angry seeing prisoners that are able to get married in prison!! a rapist or murderer can get married but we cant its rediculous.
I believe that "Marriage" is a union between Man & Woman..it is set in stone and heterosexuals deserve the right to that title..I believe this is why its challenging for us as lesbians to get leniancy, respect, or acknowledgment when it comes to those of us who want to "Marry" our significant other.
