@aravis123 Natural voice, which is stated in the title "Male Alto." When the alto-tessitura voice is falsetto, I post it as "Countertenor," and when in the soprano tessitura, I list it as "Sopranist," as opposed to "Male Soprano." Many people use various terms interchangeably, which ends up confusing listeners.
@jfbecks17 This recording is several decades old. For many years and until more recently, orchestrations for Baroque music were very much like late 19th-century and 20th-century interpretations: often modern instruments, big orchestras, large choirs, little if any Baroque vocal interpretation, inappropriate voices. This still goes on somewhat; however, now days, more knowldedgeable and better trained musicians and directors have been learning to perform Baroque works in a more authentic manner.
This is the Bernstein Messiah, I believe? Does anyone know which other arias were sung by Oberlin on this CD? I know he also sings "And he shall feed his flock" along with Adele Addison.
Not much. Track 8 (rec.), Track 18 Then Shall...(air), Track 19 He Shall Feed... (air), disc 2, track 2 He Was Despised (air.) The entire CD set still is available, as well as each track separately on MP3.
Russ Oberlin has been one of my all time fav singers since I was ten years old. He was on a Horizon Magazine album called Music For a MedievalDay.

What arrangement is this? The orchestration is not very baroque sounding, but I like it very much.

Russell Oberlin's enunciation is perfect, you can hear every syllable. Thank you Stephen for this particular rendition of "O Thou That Tellest"
