i also have one wonderful knife but after a while starts to loose its edge but as u said its a combat knife just needs to have a great point the metal at the bottom is used as a skull breaker aka a hammer i made a pike on my lath and put it at the end of mine instead of a flat cap also the cap acts as a stabling balancer the wieght of the knife wonderful knife though one concern is when u do unscrew the end the blade has alot of play in it
