  • I am also a nook Checker Outer. I love making small discoveries. I just discovered a Daiso here in Seattle, btw.

  • I like the clear umbrella you got there.

  • I think the ticket machine is a very good idea, I mean there'd be no point to rob the store owner if the money is in a machine outside and you have to use a ticket to get anything anyway. I wonder if America has anything like this, like in Newyork or something.

  • can you drive an American motorcycle(big loud one) in japan

  • For sure. I have seen some Harleys around.

  • Busan Kevin, i wish u could do more on alley tour.. it is very intresting.. hehhe.. thx for the video..

  • I wish you zoomed in on the buttons, it would have been hilarious.

Overall awesome vid. :D I hope you keep making more!

  • great story,, kevin,, do you stay in contact with Mr Lee lol Invite him to Japan

  • God I thought I was the only one. I love exploring alleys!

  • You're not alone! I love these places.

  • Please continue making these. I love it.

  • Glad you like it! Keep watching. There will be more like it in the future!

  • That was a nice tour. Thanks. :)

  • Thanks for watching! Glad you liked it.

  • Rainy days are so cool. Exploring back alleys on a rainy day - even cooler.

  • I agree %100

  • Button shop?... The owner must know something we don't!! (Scotch tape store anyone?!)

  • Yeah...strange stuff...millions of buttons! I wonder how he does....is he driving a Beamer?? :)

  • Atleast these ally ways have pictures to go along with the prices.

  • True that. I suppose this one is in Sannomiya in downtown Kobe...a lot of tourists wander these streets. I suppose the restaurants are ready for them!

  • I should really go to Kobe sometimes. After all, I was born there. Do you know about a school called Saint Michael's? It was the first school I've ever attended. Sometimes I wonder about that school.

  • Yea, I will say one thing, alleys in Japan are A LOT safer than else where.. even her in Canada. lol.

me and my 2 friends walked around Shibuya at 3am, without even the slightest worry. :D

but of course, 3am in Shinjuku might be a little bit scary. :)

  • They are indeed safer...even in smaller cities in North America it can be dangerous. About 10 years ago, myself and two friends were jumped by about 10 guys (strangers...random attack) when walking home from a bar in a small town in Eastern Canada. Yep...I appreciate the safety factor here. Korea is very safe as well.

  • I think the alleyways are cool too.

I like the kind of grunginess to some of them. It seems a little more down-to-earth; a little more cozy. Especially the restaurants.

I noticed a lot of them during my brief stay in Japan... but didn't get a chance to explore them because of time constraints.

I'm working hard to visit again.

Videos like these keep me inspired. Thanks.

  • Glad my vids are inspiring you! You should come back for sure.

I find that the back streets and non-touristy areas are the best parts about Japan.

  • May be you should make a video like alley tour all around the world someday ^^

  • hehe....unfortunately, many aren`t so safe. I`d be scared to walk down many alleys outside of Japan.

  • I LOVED it. Maybe you could go in, sit down, and give a review or what-not. Still, i really love the tour, Thanks!

  • That`s a great idea. Maybe I can make a vid like that sometime soon :) Thanks. i always like more ideas....sometimes I run out!

  • I'm glad you liked it! Pick some random restaurant that looks family owned-ish or something non mainstream and order something you've never heard of. I'm sure a lot of people would enjoy the randomness and experience as I would myself. Good Luck in Japan~

  • Thanks a lot. What was cool, when my family was here 2 weeks ago, they only wanted to eat in small "hole-in-the-wall" restaurants...they show the true character of a place I suppose.

    Cheers

  • how far is Kobe from Tokyo?

I lived in tokyo for a couple of months and I loved it :D

  • How do you live in Tokyo for a few months and not know how far Kobe is? Kobe is a huge city.. To answer your question, I think it's about 500km away.

  • The only time I've ever heard of Kobe was when they mention the earthquake. How am I supposed to know exactly know how far it is??? Why's that odd? I went to TOKYO, not KOBE. It just wasn't a place I even thought about while being there.

I did go to Nikko, Osaka, and Kyoto however.

  • It`s a little more than 3 hours on the Shinkansen...next to Osaka.

  • At 4:01 that looks like a kawaii-ish graffiti.

  • indeed....very cool stuff! Thanks for watching :)

  • MORE please =)

and don't go into the door at 1:01 . i did once and it took me straight into the bowls of hell itself!!! it took me about 9 months just to escape, i'm writing a book about it too 12/23/2012 check it out ;).

  • I was scared to go into the doorway!!! hehe...maybe next time....I`ll need some ninja throwing stars for protection though....and of course, someone who knows how to use them!

  • lol throwing stars.

  • preferred weapon of all Kobe ninjas!

  • LOLOLOL

  • it's unclean

  • It was pretty good. I`ve seen far dirtier in my own home in Canada!

  • Japanese cities are so cool... every city is a maze of tiny streets and buildings

  • For sure. Especially the older parts of cities. It`s like they haven`t changes in 100`s of years!

  • That was actually pretty cool. I know there are so many nook/cranny places in Japan cities. It's neat to see them.

  • Glad you enjoyed the vid. there are certainly too many to film. I really like taking walks in areas like this.

  • Alley ways are cool - so many cool places are hidden away in such places

  • I agree. Often the best food and places to drink are hidden in places like this. A very cool aspect of Japan :)

  • Yeah!! U did an awesome video.!!

  • Thabnks a lot :) Glad you liked it.

  • Thanks for the video, that kind of thing is really interesting. It helps remind us of how different Japan can be from North America. How hard would it be to "shadow" one of the regular Japanese workers in a normal day? Like one of the folks that were working in the shops in this last video? It would be interesting how they live at home as well. Seeing some of those places at night, after work, would be cool. Keep up the good work!

  • It is really different than back home. Dont think I`ll be shadowing anyone....dont want to end up in jail! :)I should take another walk through the same alley on a Friday night...that would make for interesting footage!

  • yeah nice tour kev, rly great video, i dont think many vloggers would take time to show small yet interesting places in Japan :)

  • Thanks a lot. Surprisingly some bigtime vloggers do. One of TokyoCooney's (I'm a huge fan) first vids was about Nightlife in Japan. He showed his favorite drinking spot...a GREAT hole in the wall izakaya filled with colorful locals...nice vid indeed.

    Thanks for watching and enjoying!

  • love the tour~!

  • Cool stuff! Glad you liked it :)

  • Beer and cabbage ah ahhaha

Thanks for the tour! I like these little pedestrian alleys!

  • They are cool! Yes, beer and cabbage....a true feast :)

  • and thats one reason why i love Japan!

  • Japan is a damn cool place to live in :) That's for sure. Even the "mundane" is cool!
