Try pressing F3 to use the Mod Scanner, each mob has a code number, if there is a bunch of codes together, there may be a dungeon. By the way, I will become a tip bot.

My monster spawner experience: If you see a cave above the cave you are in with no natural stairs, just a steep wall, then it't usually a monster spawner up there.

hit F over and over if u think you can hear a mob spawner and look around. It changes the render distancebut still shows fire. If you see square fire, thats your mob spawner! use it wisely Tom!
