I want you to know I am sitting in the library watching this again and laughing. Even though I am only reading your lips; "I will not abide. Anyone. Who threatens my family." You are so fun to watch.
I watched the episode again and I have to admit you are right. It was undoubtedly Bette. She had the best motive and opportunity, and the most guilt in the interrogation. Lots of little clues like you said. However, I honestly don't think it was motive enough for her character to commit murder.
And I still find myself disappointed in the ending. Having the greatest character, with the most growth and depth end the entire series by murdering someone? I found it a very unsatisfying ending. Not the feeling of shock and, "OMG, why didn't I guess it sooner!" that one usually gets from a good murder mystery. No, it was more of a tragic ending for me. It leaves me feeling a bit hopeless instead of the way the series has inspired me up until now.
:-) Bette does goof up a lot, I think her slaying of Jenny is symbolic of her slaying her own demons. Bette and Jenny are two different variants of the same personality: "complex, talented, occasionally generous but very... complex." Bette is what happens when that type evolves and matures in the light... Jenny is what happens when that type goes wrong and gets buried in darkness.
Your bette was great, rofl. What a total rip off that show was, Ive been saying so since they killed Dana but everyone kept watching... Thanks for finally giving us a pay off Brian :)
Aw, YW. I may be in the minority but I think after the... um... well, less than wonderful third season, I think the writers did a good job pulling it together with the new cast of Phyllis, Catharine, Tash, Paige, and Jody. I thought the fourth season was really good. :-)
I obsessively watched seasons 1-4 last year at school, but I sort of lost interest when Bette went crazy and was always fighting with Tina and then ridiculously kidnapped the baby. I think I was more burned out than disinterested. It's hard to watch the same TV show for a month straight and nothing else. Especially when all the main characters do is cat fight.
You can't cram The L Word into a single month! Oh heavens. You need to watch Season 1 with your best friend, 2 with your boyfriend, 3 with your ex-boyfriend, 4 with your best friend, 5 with your sister, and 6 with everybody!!! Fucking hell, I am projecting. :-P
HAHAHAHAHA!!! Yes you are, but that's OK. Everyone slips up sometimes.
I watched a few episodes with my friend who owned the DVD's, but the most part it was me in my dorm room watching the L directly across from my brother who was playing WoW. LOL
Thank you! It's a fantastic show. I don't really watch TV but Marla herself (seen above, hehe) brought over the first season on DVD 4 years ago, and I've seen every episode since. It's very very intelligently written and rewards viewers who remember old details and characters from the past. :-)
