He is scared to confront himself but now he is finally confronting his fears. And i think the chorus is his reflection talking back to him. Asking him why is he so afraid to face himself and see the beauty he has. But Its easier for him to lie to himself than face the truth. And the second verse switches back to him trying to hide from his fears. Hope this helps

I always thought Frank was talking to/about a girl. It turns out his reflection is talking to him in a mirror. Frank thinks he's ugly/etc (probably cos his girl left). His reflected self wants him to turn a light on, look at himself, he wants to see the details in his eyes. The chorus is oceans reflection asking why frank is afraid of himself.
