  • "Thank you." I find this article very interesting. I have a site that offers a list of Mystery Shopping companies and often do I get comments asking for tips on how to be a better mystery shopper. I would love to refer them to this page, if you don't mind. They will find this very useful.

    Thank you again, J.T. Smith

  • I found a great shop at mscreview.info this has worked great for us

  • I have difficulty with freelancing and I am not making that much from taking online surveys.

I was hesitant about mystery shopping but if all I have to do is go to a store, analyze everything, buy whatever I want, get paid, and so on, then I am interested.

I am so interested in doing this. Here is my AOL email if anyone wants to hire me as a mystery shopper:

  • I was a mystery shopper once. I worked for a telemarketing company, and a portrait studio hired us to gauge their affliliates' efficiency. So the job does exist. However, I guarantee that 100% of the ads you see that are saying that they offer mystery shopper jobs are a scam-- period.

  • @carlcartman Your comment worries me. I just applied for (supposedly) a mystery shopper job vacancy. Could you please tell me how to notice if it is a scam and how the scammers work in this particular case? Thank you in advance.

  • @ShiningNow Simple enough: Did they charge you a fee? Then it's a scam, period.

Sometimes they send you a worthless list of companies allegedly hiring secret shoppers, Fior instance, Sears hires secret shoppers. They could give you Sears' address, and you would soon find out that they don't hire people off the street. There are other versions of the scam. Look up secret shopper on snopes . com.

  • @ShiningNow

Hello, Here is a couple "VERY HELPFUL TIPS!"

1.- If you were paid before you completed the job..."IT'S A SCAM!"

2.- If they charged you a fee to sign-up to become a mystery shopper..."IT'S A SCAM!"

3.- If they charge you a monthly fee..."IT'S A SCAM!"

I hope this helps before you fall victim to one of the many scams out there waiting to take your money?

If you should have any more questions, Please feel free to let me know.

  • Not all of them are scams, but some of them have very limited types of shops. There are scams that ask you to wire money to a distant relative though.

  • SCAM!

  • You wanna know where you make the real money in marketing research? Focus Groups! Online surveys suck, they cut you out in the middle of the survey.

  • Very good video and I think it's very good way to earn extra money working part time any way there are other ways to make money from the comfort of home, such as affiliate programs because you can promote hundreds of digital and traditional products in any niche market and is proven to be very profitable and also the members have many tools to market products

  • if you use myminicashsite, com u will make more than the mistery shopper

  • I did this for a supermarket chain for about 1.5 year as a part time job next to college. Pretty useful job in my personal opinion because I know some stores lost 3/4000 dollar per month because of sloppy employees.

  • avoid this shit scam, get a real job alright is much better.

  • I have been with the pinecone research team surveys they DO PAY REAL CHECKS for each survey you do I have gotten 12 ofthem so far this year some are only $3.00 for each surveys but others are more. Check out Pinecone research.com they are for real you do get paid by check..happyladyLloyd

  • i would love to mystry shop a strip club :D

  • The pay is less than minimum wage and you don't even get your gas money back. You work 3 hours to get paid $10 - 25. The only people that make money are the marketing companies that hire you! Scam!

  • mystery shop puts the needs of a real customer on the back burner in order to meet the expectations of a mystery shopper who typically only spends a few dollars at check out. real customers dont want to be bombarded with 100 questions and offers at the register. we want to make a purchase and leave. but for mystery shop, every customer in the store gets subjected to the annoying questions.

  • I have been making extra money for awhile by doing online surveys from legit companies like Opinion Outpost! It has been helpful seeing those extra checks coming in the mail! You can also sell your used electronics like your i phone, digital camera's, dvd players, computers satelite radios, gps navigators and more to a company called Gazelle.com they will pay for the shipping of your electronic gadget that you are selling to them,by sending you a box that has postage paid mailing label on the box

  • Psssht, her career. Pathetic.

  • What stupid way to make money !!!! It's true, Americans just aren't making a lot of substantial, meaningful or high-quality goods and services anymore. More than half of what they manufacture now is Junk food, weapons, economic calamities and American Idol. And most of the corporations that do make meaningful things are now outsourcing. This is truly an empire in decline.

  • thanks so much for the valuable tips. I learned a lot

of new things from you and really appreciate the

    knowledge shared.

  • man....I would make a great mystery shopper....I was a retail store manager for years

  • Many stores, such as Target etc., hire their own mystery shoppers specifically so HQ can see how the operations of the stores are functioning such as customer service etc..

I personally have never encountered competitors' mystery shoppers that have tried to gain sensitive insight into how current and future operations run. Trading retail experience with an employee of the company of interest is the most effective way for an individual to gain insight.
